      Do you do this

I was talking to a friend about dreams and he told me about controlling dreams he told me that what he does is repeat somthing like "control your dream" in his head untill he fell asleep so i tried it and i had a little bit of control but mainly just knew it was adream and couldnt do anything about except move around a little bit but when i woke up i started to wonder if maby i only had a dream about controling my dream if you know what im talkin about if not its not that important but afterwards ive never tried it so i guess ill try it again and report you on how it worked tommorow anyway i was wondering if anyone had any techniques like that

      Welcome to DV!

You'll get an "official" welcome from me in a PM shortly.

That's known as the MILD method for inducing lucid dreams. Except that "controlling your dream" is a little different from being lucid. It's like the next step.

That is what lucid dreaming is! Simply knowing that you are dreaming while it is taking place. So, it sounds like you're already off to a good start. Once you get used to becoming lucid in your dreams, you'll find that it's easier to take control of them.

      Exactly!
      And welcome from me too

The steps to lucidity are roughly:
      1) Recall of your dreams. (Must be 'Check', since you remember something )
      2) Awareness of the dream. (Check )
      3) Dream Control (To work on)

So you're 2/3rds there. Well done.
All that you need now is to realise that you can control it, by believing and expecting things.
A little trick that might help : use shortcuts.
If you can't fly, then take a pill that lets you fly. Give yourself a reason to believe.

      Good luck and welcome.

Don't worry about that -- I think that most of us have that problem a lot of the time. I know that I do. And even though it's important to have confidence that you will gain lucidity, it's also important to realize that it's not going to happen overnight, or every time you try, so don't get stressed out about it. Just think "oh well, there's always tomorrow night". Getting angry with yourself will only make things worse.

Hehehe all of us have stuff like that. When I first came to DV and started my dream journal, the first dream ever reacorded was one ... odd game of tag. It included the street sewer covers on trees, orange juice and my church youth group leader as the sole person it for 200+ kids tagging people with a greecy paper towel.

I am a leaf on the wind... watch how I soar!
