      Spinning didn't work

Ok, I have been doing Lucid Dreaming on and off for a bit. Last night, I became completely lucid after what seemed like an OBE.

I kept saying "Clarity now" to keep the darkness away. I did try a spinning technique to change the scenery from that dull apartment, but when I came out of it, I was in the same place. Intersting enough, when I spun, I felt an enormous pulling force though my whole dream body.

Toward the end of it, I grabbed and picked up a small wooden yellow to hold onto it, but some force pulled me away into unconsciousness.

My question is, how could I make the spinning technique work? I was also looking for someone there but never saw them. Also, no matter how much I fought I couldn't stop the force from pulling me into unconsciousness.

      Any recommendations?

If it doesn't work for you try something else.
For example go to a door or a wall, imagine the place you want to be on the other side of that door or wall, step through.

Imagine that the person is standing right behind you and then turn around. Or call the person with a cell phone (if you don't have one hold your hand to the ear and imagine you have one)

Focus on the dream and keep thinking that it's a dream.

I absolutely agree. Look through the tutorials and other dream control techniques in this forum, and you should be set.

Nice Nightshade! That makes perfect sense why I couldnt create a DC last night- Ill definetly try that next LD along with stepping thru doors for scenery. Awesome Ideas That would probably work a lot better than spinning.

      .
The spinning technique is interesting, it can be used to prolong lucid dreams AND teleportation. If you are trying to enter a new dream scene by spinning it is important to visualize it in your head while spinning around. Expectation also plays an impotant role, if you have doubts it probably wont work.
Other teleportation methods include, jumping through a mirror, flying to a new dream scene, or creating a portal (e.g. draw the shape of a portal on the nearest wall and step through it) + others that I can't seem to think of at the moment

Also, Dream spinning can cause you to FA, so it is important to RC whether you end up in the same room or you find yourself lying in bed thinking you have woken up because chances are you're still dreaming. That 'pulling' feeling you described has happened to me a numeber of times, I believe it is caused by your brain becoming concious of your sleeping body - you can't possibly be walking around if you are lying in bed, it's kind of an 'in-between' stage of dreaming and waking up.
      Good Luck

      Re: Spinning didn't work

I think that was my problem, that I didn't visualize my new setting, as I wanted to go anywhere else, but didn't know where. It was a pretty clear lucid dream, probably 8/10. I could feel and see darkness coming (almost like in the movie Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), and I spun more to change scene than to stay lucid. I shouted "Clarity now" for lucidity and it worked only so long. I did not know to rub my hands together as I have since read. When I picked up a table and grabbed hard, I tried to stay lucid, but it faded.

My question is, if you ask advice of a dream character, what are the chances that the advice you get is worth anything? For instance, I would like a DC to show me some new martial arts moves I had not learned before. When I awaken, and try them, is there a chance that it would be practical?

In my own personal experience the advice/ feedback I get from my DC's ranges from silly to border line absurd! Also, depending on your lucidity the advice might sound astonishing until you actually wake up and realize that it is just plain nonsense.
However, I am pretty sure this varies from person to person, I myself have never been much of a verbal dreamer which is probably the reason I haven't had much success with DC feedback lol.
However, I would have to say yes it is possible that you will get some sound advice.

I'm not sure about learning new martial arts moves, I'm sure it is possible but don't know enough abou it to comment - someone else will have to answer this one.
Although I would think that depending on the moves that you learn in an LD they could quite easily turn out to be physically imossible in waking life (don't injure yourself by trying to perform tripple flip, fly-kick sommersault and expecting to land perfectly without the aid of your dream world )
I think the most practical use of your lucid dreams (if this is the area you want to explore) would be to develop you existing skills. Lucid dreams can (and have I believe) be used for practicing and perfecting many skills, from guitar playing to skiing.
      Are you dreaming or awake?
