I'm new. I read a few threads and all but I am sure this subject has been discussed many times before.

Where is the best source for me to read so I can learn how to control my dreams. I heard it can be done.

Can someone steer me in the right direction?

I know I could use the search and probably find a lot of info.... I will do that now but if someone can help me out further it would be great.

Thanks everyone, this forum looks pretty cool.....

Welcome to DV!

I think controlling your dreams is mostly about your feeling and attitudes of the day youve just had, that's only my opinion. On good days I cant control what dream I have but not what is in it. I dont think you can control dreams fully unless lucid, I might be mistaken!

you came exactly to the right place. Just look around, right on the index page you'll probably find everything you are loking for (top left of page). Even if you don't know you are deeaming sometimes you can contol it. But if you are lucid and you beleive it can be controlled than it certainly can,

You can't "control your dreams."

You can control your own behavoir in an LD, but no more than you can control it while you're awake, and usually even less than that.

Someone sent me a PM recenty that claimed I was "ruining his life" by coming here and saying that.

Wow. I have to wonder about the kind of life that person is leading.

There are things you can do in LDs though that are a lot better than "controlling" them, and infinitely more useful than bullshitting strangers on the Internet about your prowess in dreaming, and than in getting in the way of real learning.

It would be nice to try to read a post without being bombarded with advertisements for your !Yahoo group. If the people didn't join from the first two threads you created, then odds are, that they don't want to join. I would say that it is a very unreliable and inconsistent way of having people join, but I'm sure that some have, even after you accusing them of lying. You've put up your billboards, now you can stop.

Yes indeed I do have an agenda!

And to the fellow who demamded that I stop posting a link to my group -- well, 26 people have joined so far! Now, if you're insinuating that you can "control your dreams," then why don't you join too? I can certainly give you a worthwhile task upon which you can bring all that control to bear.

In fact, you can join even if you can't "control your dreams."

Arne, I have the distinct impression that you are splitting hairs here. Please explain what you mean IN DETAIL, especially what you mean by control. I'm a patient man, but this constant disruption of the forum will not be tolerated much longer.

P.S. I have joined Arne's group and have completed his first lucid task. Am waiting for my next lucid to complete his second. I am interested in where he is going with this. Is it your intention of building upon each completed task until the task is so complex that it cannot be completed even by God himself?

What do you mean? I controlled my behavior in my first ever lucid dream... I choose to walk through walls and use telekinesis and all the while I was conscious that I was dreaming. If you think that that is "less control" than while I'm awake, that is just plain silly.

Yes, yes you CAN control your dreams, your lucid dreams that is! You can go where you want and do whatever you want to do.

You seem quite proud of the fact that you are offering tasks for others to complete... Why would someone join your group? Are you implying you have more creative or useful ideas to test than the ones my own imagination gives me? I understand why some of the people responding to this thread tell people to ignore you!

Seeker -- exactly what am I "disrupting?"

I say that people can't "control their dreams." If someone says otherwise, I want to hear him describe doing it, but so far I've heard nothing whatsoever of the sort. Just personal attacks on me for saying it.

And NOBODY in my group has claimed to me that he or she can do any such thing.

You can "control a daydream," and you can "control a fantasy," but so what? What's worth mentioning about that? And even if you could "control a dream" -- again, so what? You'd just be having a fantasy. But anyway, you can't.

Dreams are not what people ASSUME they are. Things are going on in dreams that have nothing to do with the dreamer. That's why you can't "control" them.

Dreams are not even happening in the place where people ASSUME they're happening.

And Seeker, my group was formed only five weeks ago. I've been dreaming for many years now. The project will be over when it's over. As soon as I can get it done right, but no sooner than that.

See if you can will the tree to pull itself up by the roots and start walking around, the way you can in a waking fantasy. If you can do that, then you'll be "controlling the dream."

But just as important, this was a completely daft thing to have people do in a lucid dream. Where did anyone get the notion that it was a good thing to do?

Of all things, people should stay away from trees in lucid dreaming. Don't touch them. Don't have anything to do with them.

I'll play the game, why not?

It would seem to me that the individuals had enough control to physically create an Easter Rabbit. Which multiple posters had already accomplished and described, in detail. As per request.

OK, since you have not given a detailed description of what you mean by controlling then I will use your making the tree walk around as a template. Based on that, here are a few dreams I have controlled:

I have made it stop raining
I have made tornado's appear and consume me
I have brightened and dimmed house lights with my mind.
I have made stains remove themselves from carpet.
I have made cars fly.
I have rearanged the landscape, moving features from one location to another.
I have made the sun rise on a number of occasions, just by exerting my will to make the earth rotate faster toward sunrise.

That sure sounds like controlling the dream to me, if not, please explain EXACTLY what you mean by control.

You mentioned letting controlling get in the way of real learning? Balance is the key. I only attempt to control 25% of my lucid dreams, there is way too much fun and adventure to be had when you let them unfold naturally. And yes, things can be learned as well.

Seeker, you're in my group. You'll get plenty of chances to display your powers.

As to why you should stay away from trees in dreaming -- I'll tell you how to find that out for yourself. I have more pressing tasks for you first though.

I'm curious though as to exactly WHY you thought it would be a good idea for people to "merge with a tree" in a lucid dream. Did that strange idea just pop into your head?

Once more, you have evaded my question and failed to describe exactly what you mean by control. I am disappointed.

The merging with a tree idea came from a really nice New Age piece of fiction by Thea Alexander entitled 2150 A.D. Specifically, students were given the task of merging their consiousness with inanimate objects such as rocks and trees. It was to broaden their horizons, one danger however for the main character in this piece was that it could be dangerous for an adult since you had to will yourself to unmerge with the object. Being an adult, there is such a sense of peace that comes from merging with the inanimate that you would lack the desire to unmerge and become trapped.

As for your yahoo user group, I've not yet decided if I will continue to participate since you are obviously avoiding my questions here and being evasive. You cannot come in and make bold statements about control without backing them up. Every time you do, you cause quite a bit of friction. I am beginning to think your only reason for coming here in the first place IS to increase your membership.

Oh, wow. You better come up with a very detailed description about what you mean by "You can't control your dreams"
By saying that, you go against nearly everyone on this entire forum.
All of my lucid dreams have complete control, I can do anything I want, if I wish something to be there, then it's there.
That's control, and an example you gave of control yourself.
And if you are eventually going to build your lucid tasks to things you view as impossible.
Think again, anything is possible in a lucid dream, no matter HOW complex you get with your tasks, there is always someone who can and will complete them. Also, I'm not joining your group, I don't see the need, your clearly just trying to get members.

Let's see you carry out the second task, and then we'll come to a mutual decision as to whether you stay in. You might learn something in it that will alter your thinking. But if not, that's fine.

Futhermore, I'm not going to spill the results of eight years of research here, expecially when the project isn't even complete.

You should know though that trees are not "inanimate objects" like rocks.

And I've already told you that there are things going on in dreaming that have nothing to do with the dreamer -- that your dreams are actually not about you at all.

And finally, if you were a tree, would you be well-disposed toward people? Even toward tree-huggers?

You've hit the nail bang on the head arne saknussemm! Why would trees be well disposed towards people?

After all, they have their roots in the underworld and grow on pure evil.

Falling trees are the biggest killer in the rainforest!

That proves it!

Dude .. What the hell is wrong with you? .. seriously man , you're pissing me off now.
We're all here like discussing about different ways to have lucid dreams , different methods to control our dreams , dream of whatever we want etc. most of us have done it , and the rest are still learning to do it.
Then you just appear from nowhere and start bullshiting about "not being able to control dreams"! .. And you don't even explain what you really mean by that.

What the hell dude! If you can't control your damn dreams then that's your own damn problem cause we're all able to do that perfectly here. And stop bragging about your crappy little Yahoo! Group. I joined it, and I was given a bunch of pointless tasks which have nothing to do with controlling dreams what-so-ever.

Either send a post explaining exactly WHY YOU SAID ALL THAT ... or just shut up and mind your own business. Because there are beginners here who are motivated enough to put the effort to learn Lucid Dreaming but you are taking that little motivation away from them.

That's just ridiculous! ... Trees in dreams are just like other dream objects. We can do whatever we want with them. In fact next time I have an LD I'm going to set a tree on fire and stand and watch it burn! (Wouldn't do that IRL , I do like trees&#33

P.S: Sorry for my bad language , but I can't just sit here and watch someone denying our believes here.

OK, I guess I have to ask, what are your credentials? Were you at any time in the past a professor at UCLA or BYU?
I'm sorry to be so paranoid, but we do have some people that drift by here with some strange notions somtimes.

Also, agreed about the second task. I am reserving my next lucid dream for the second task.

[EDIT] BTW, this thread illustrates exactly what I was talking about by causing a disturbance. You make claims that you do not substantiate, instead you promise to tell someone all if only they will join your group. Defensiveness and tension results. This is what, the third thread now in which this has happened?

First of all, welcome to my 3rd home away from home, Siamese Dreamer.

Second of all, don't listen to people like A.S. All he's REALLY saying is that if you can't control your dreams, then there's no such things as Lucid Dreaming!!! You could listen to him...if he has the words to back up his claim, but since he doesn't, listen to people like Seeker, seeing as he's one of the MOST experienced LD'er on this site.

Oh, and I'm sorry Seeker, but this has to be said.

To Arne saknussemm: I'm sorry to sound mean, but you have absolutely NO right to come and do what I like to call Thread Hijacking. Keep your veiws to your own topics, and please, stop being desperate for attention, and trying to get more people on your Yahoo group just because it doesn't meet your standards. Maybe the reason why you don't have many members is because you mention it over and over, and people get annoyed. And please, stop trying to make us believe in not controlling our dreams. You tried, you failed, so shut up, get out of this topic, and get on with life! I'm all for Seeker locking this topic, but seeing as Siamese Dreamer is new to Ld's, I really want want this topic to continue. But it can't do that until YOU stop posting. Our heads are about to explode because of you, so I hope I speak for the members of this topic when I say...

Snowy, you flatter me too much I do know about lucid dreaming, but that is onle because I have little natural ability. As I've said in the past, I am the LD poster child. If I can learn to LD and have control, then anyone can.
