I just joined the site, but I have been a lucid dreamer for a long time. Since back at a time when if you told people you control your dreams they'd call you a big liar. At least where I grew up lol. Anyway my question is this. I have developed my skills such that I control my dreams as easily as Neo bends the rules of the Matrix [I love the Matrix]. But I have never been able to remain in my dreams long. Every time I do something very radical or something very exciting my dream starts to fade away. Flying has become a routine thing. Lol. I leap high into the air and go soaring. Anything crazier than that fades my dreams away. I'd like to hear what other advanced dreamers have to say.

Since back at the time when?! I try telling one of my closest friends about my lucid dreams and he tells me that I'm making it up on the spot. I wish people weren't so skeptical about things they haven't yet tried or experience. Let's get back on topic..

Welcome to Dreamviews. It's always nice to have another experienced member.

Although sound like you're much more advanced in obtaining lucidity than I am, I think I might have a helpful suggestion of a way to stay in your dreams a bit longer. Over excitement seems to be a big obstacles for people to get around when in a lucid dream and if I'm thinking straight, it sounds like this is your problem.

If something really exciting starts to happen, look away and focus on something else. Gather your thoughts and calm down. When you feel like you won't wet yourself with excitement anymore, resume right where your dream left off.

Hopefully that will help out some..

I love the Matrix too! Welcome! Hmm...I suggest just going with the flow for a few LDs, or pretending you are an actor in a movie. Those generally make things not-wake-you-up-exciting. If you find your dream starts to fade, spin. That always works for me. I've never really had a problem with the excitement, (except w/ dream sex but that's a whole other story) but I also say to take a few breaths, rub your hands together, and then go have fun.

Definitely do as Luna said.
You must go with the flow for a while, really pretend your acting in a movie, this will not make you wake up from the excitement of infinite possibilities. Go with the flow for a few, and then next time you become lucid, immediately try some stabilization techniques and then try something exciting, you will most likely succeed.
Don't go and say that would be boring, really take in your surroundings, every detail, it's amazing to see what your mind can create around you, some scenarios could even be hilarious.

Welcome to Dream Views!

Sometimes just "touching" something will help stabilize and keep me in a LD. By "touching" I mean really feeling the texture of something.. is it soft/hard, warm/cold, rough/smooth (you get the idea).

You state that you've been a lucid dreamer for a long time.. are you a natural (i.e., no techniques.. have just always been lucid in dreams) or do you do a specific technique? If the latter, please share.. I always like to hear how others achieve LDs.

I just had an idea, might seem pretty stupid.. But it might aswell work.. Your topic title kinda inspired me, how about getting some sort of charger out of your pocket, and plug it somewhere in your body, plug the charger into a power socket, and you recharge your dream... Sounds VERY stupid, i know, but it might work..

Thanks guys. All your ideas got me thinking. Casualtie, your friend needs to get out more lol. I share my dreams with a lot of my friends and it gets very entertaining. That was funny Howie. I haven't tried it but I can see how it would work. To answer your question Clairity, I'm a natural. I've been having lucid dreams since around when I was 13. One day about 2 years ago I was reading about lucid dreaming and dream control and I went like "That's exactly what I do!" That was when I actually realized there are a lot of people out there into this stuff. I've always compared my lucid dreaming to The Matrix, and my dreams are full of Matrix themes, especially flying, jumping really high, and intense ass kicking. Of late my dreams have been the heroic type. Two nights ago I had 4 dreams, 3 of which I was involved in as a hero of some sort.

Simply reenter your dream once it fades... Then reenter it again.

THere's a dream reentry tutorial in the tutorials section.
