Reality check failed but I didnt gain lucidy?

Last night i saw a nightmare, but i realized it was a dream.
When the monster from my nightmare started coming towards me i just laughed, then i did a reality check, closed my nose with my hand and breathed. And suddenly i could breathe! i was dreaming!

i dont know if i woke up for less than one second or so, but i dont think i was lucid anymore, or i was lucid with VERY VERY little control over what was going to happen.

      What did i do wrong?
im guessing i got too excited and somehow, i dunno, woke up for just a super tiny second, i dont remember waking up though.

Anyways this was my first lucid experience, so im not surprised everything didn't go as planned.

My first lucid experiance was something like that. Did a reality check and got excited and woke up. Next time I beacame lucid i got excited but had a false awakening and gained lucidity again but had crap control. You're doing nothing wrong. Getting excited is common problem for newbies, but you'll get over them.

Hey Snooze, i think that you did experience a lucid dream, but with very low lucidity, maybe after doing the RC you triggered a FA possibly, i could be wrong but you definately did well to get that far, i wish i could have nightmares like some people. Well done though!

yeah, i guess i had low lucidy since i kept thinking about fighting the monsters and didnt want to do anything else at that time, well, i didnt have time to do much more since my father woke me up

I really don't get it, i've not had a nightmare in years, i mean like sincei was a kid, must be about 4-6 years being honest as i can, i have these weird things like i've not thrown up for 9 years, nearly 10. Creepy.

Well the thing about Lucid Dreaming is that it can completely negate nightmares as in you can make it all dissapear, create a new dream scene, become uber powerful, fly away, destroy them. Pretty much you being Lucid makes you God and as such you have nothing to fear and can rid the nightmare completely or have fun with it and destroy what is causing it.

I think that you made an excuse for your reality check failing, I did that the other day. I did a reality check in a bed (not mine) and my hands were all blurry. I blamed it on being tired and didn't go lucid.
