For me, I usually take a couple minutes just clearing my head. I make note of the environment and express wonder in the dreamscape. Then I do a few simple math equations in my head. Nothing too hard, but nothing rote either. Then if things don't get clearer I usually stare at my hands and do this thing I call "finding edges". It's like turning up the contrast between the edges of objects. Like the "sharp" tool in Photoshop. I can usually get perfectly formed and stable hands using this method.

      Good luck!

I think for my next lucid dream I'm just going to go around and examine everything. Look at it closely and find the edges, as well as trying to smell everything. I may also do some crazy stuff like start licking the wall and see if I can taste anything.

I've been reading various other threads and I think I'm just going to try and use all of my senses to try and ground myself.. see if I can make some improvement...

I had a WILD the other day while napping and I've noticed with each lucid even if I don't actively practice remembering my dreams and all that I am gaining more and more control... now I've just got to become lucid more often and I'll be golden
