The More I Ground Myself, the Shorter the Lucid?

I have heard the advice over and over again, "Ground yourself in your dream. Don't go in quickly, just notice all the tiny detail." So I've tried this on several occasions. I lose lucidity in a few seconds.

So recently I've abandoned the advice. The moment I'm lucid, I start looking for whatever I want to summon or start trying to fly (im not very good at flying though). My lucids doing this method last 5-8 minutes and I'm still just practicing.

Even though I don't follow the common advice of "grounding oneself", I do follow the advice "Find what works for you." If someone is telling you a method and it doesn't work, try something else. And, of course, don't get frustrated. Being pissed off is not a good lucid aid (or maybe it is, who knows?).

If you want to disagree, you are welcome.

Usually you have to have something occupying you to keep the lucid going. Some people are able to occupy themselves by just staring off to space never mind staring at an object.. XD

But yeah, whatever floats your boat. Finding your own path is extraordinarily important.

Sounds like you have found the Truth behind lucidity. The Truth is: anything is possible in LDs. It is our expectations and false assumptions that keep us from doing anything in LDs.

There are no rules. Find what works for you and don't automatically adopt everyone else's limitations.

      Good job. Good luck.
