It differes all the time for me. |

So today I had my first lucid dream, but it ended very short . I was jumping through this rocky valley then I said to myself that I was dreaming and that I should try to fly. But I really didn't, I didn't know how so I stop and let the dream control itself. So any tips, on how you can fly? |

Congrats on your first lucid! |

I just go... |

I like taking a running start and jumping, using my arms as wings. I can fly with my mind, but still prefer using my wings, I find that I have more control that way. |

these dreams are very common with me. I've learned that you need to be in very strong sense of reality, thus leading you to know, not think, know you are sleeping. Something in your dream has to give you a hint that this is just not possible to happen around the laws of physics and crap. Most of the people are having situations where the individual jumps/falls from hight and while falling, he feels butterflies in his stomach, getting giant panic breath and just before hitting ground, he wakes up with accelerated heart rate. Its f-e-a-r of dying. It is the thing you have to overcome like it is happening to you in real life, it is the same will you'll have to use. than you are free to do anything. fly. |

I used to do the Superman take off to launch me into the sky. |

in my first lucid i ddnt think to try flying and in my second i couldent so i found a stool and made it fly and sat on it |

I know its a cliche, but JUST DO IT. You wanna fly? jump up and fly. |

Estas soñando?
Ceci n'est pas une pipe
I just summon up that zero-g feeling you get from fast curves on roller costers, and my feet d-r-i-f-t off the ground... Oh, and it's not about beleiving you can, but KNOWING you can. |

Guess I'm lucky, because in the rather few short lucids that ive had, i have had no problems with flying. There is no effort involved, i just know that i can do it. I don't use any method either, just will myself around. |

Mindfulness is the aware, balanced acceptance of the present experience.
It isn't more complicated that that.
It is opening to or recieving the present moment, pleasant or unpleasant, just as it is,
without either clinging to it or rejecting it.

Heh.. The method you are using, is called intent! |

Belief that you can do something in a dream means you can (or can't if you say, believe you can't run). |
|
when I was trying to learn to fly I would take a running jump off something high, spread my arms and then just glide. I'm actually having the opposite problem now, I fly too fast and loose control. |

Everything makes sense once you stop thinking about it
In my first LD, I didn't even doubt I could fly. I didn't think that it couldn't happen, I just said to myself, "Out the window, here I go", and I flew |

Third one was really short and unstable
The only time I've had trouble with doing something whilst lucid is when I've doubted myself no matter how little the doubt is. You need to know you can do something without any doubt whatsoever. |

its all about confidence: |

I recently had my first lucid and had trouble flying as well. I couldn't lift off, so I tried diving face-first into the ground, and that got me airborne for a bit. The last thing I decided to do in the lucid was climb to the top of an apartment building that was infront of me and jump off. I knew that was how I could fly. Unfortunately the dream ended before I could start climbing. |
