      no control

i posted this somewhere else, but thought it would be pertinent here as well.

i realized i was dreaming, and i know a little about lucid dreams and had had them before, so i started trying to make stuff happen. And i couldn't! I tried thing after thing. I don't remember all the details, but at one point i even tried to have sex with jesus (no idea). it didn't work, of course, i had no control over anything. It was actually a pretty nightmarish dream. When i woke up, i wondered if i had really been lucid dreaming without control over anything, or was i dreaming that i was lucid dreaming without control. I don't guess that it matters... I suppose if you know you are dreaming that qualifies as lucid no matter what... has anyone else experienced anything like this?

A lot of things can influence your ability to control a dream.

Nightmares tend to have less control.

Unfavorable conditions (like being chased) also diminish your ability to perform certain tricks.

Some dreamlike states dont allow control at all (you might have experienced that )

Control = your *will* + your *expectations*. Quite simple, but it is easy
to be misguided and use only one component.

For example if you want something to happen, but your mind tells you it's impossible, it wont happen

At the same time if you *expect* something to happen, but dont use any willpower, it is not likely to work.

Perfect combination is expecting something to work (be open minded about it) while willing it to work.

Then comes a usual "game" or your wish coming true. Here specifics play a very large role. (if you wanted a "gun" , you may get a toy or BB gun )

Be assertive. It's your dream. Don't let some figment of your imagination get in your way. Take command! "Do this! DO that!" be the boss.

In my lucid dreams, I don't normally have too many problems with control...my only issue is that I can't change the setting of the dream with my will, it just has to happen naturally, i can just control my own actions... everything else is almost pre-controlled except for me...almost like in real life. It seems like I just extend my concious, waking reality into my dream life... if that makes sense to anyone.

Try spinning or walking through a doorway. I can't change my surrounding without doing one of the two. Or I have to walk around a corner or something.

Recently I tried to give dream control to a DC!
Crazy, I know, but I had read something on another forum and it kind of resulted in this. The attempt failed (she ignored me and her face changed to an ugly one!) by the way.
