The best time to have a lucid dream is after about 5 hours of sleep, something to do with REM sleep (read it but forgot it now).
Yeah, likely your problem was sleeping so long. A healthier sleep cycle (around 8 hours) is recommended for lucid dreaming.
(Even though several other memebers around the forums including myself don't stick to a "healthy schedule". Me posting this at 1:30 in the morning proves this, haha)
