      1) I dont even know if pinching is a good reality check. I still feel pain in dreams. Especially when you get bitten on the leg by a cheetah. lol

      2) Reality checks tell you if you are dreaming. If you already know, then you dont NEED to do a reality check. It may just help with control/clarity.

      3) Most likely you woke up because of excitment. However, a couple more attempts and youll be able to stay longer in the dream.

What time was it when you woke up?

I hate it when I get lucid when its morning and time to wake up. I guess I can't change that. Just have to get lucid earlier.

You have to stay calm.. excitement can make you wake up fast.

I also wanted to know how to not wake up fast.

I rubbed my hands which I read on here that was an experience in its self I never really explore physical feeling. Though that didn't help much.

I read I should try spinning around. Which I did and that woke my up straight away it was like the force of trying to spin around was like forcing myself to open my eyes :/

I never do reality checks. Its always pretty obvious I'm dreaming.

Once i'm lucid i try to do a simple math problem that wouldent work if i was not lucid, such as, if i did 2+2 while non-lucid it would equal skittle. If i can do it correct then i know i'm dreaming generally, if im still not sure i hold my nose and breath in. After that ill stand still and stare at my hand, and clear my mind, that increses stability to make sure the dream dosent collapse under me.

I'd suggest sitting down and calming your mind. When you first realize you're dreaming you'll probably start thinking really fast about what you want to do and either get so excited you wake up or end up not figuring out what you really want to do. If you calm down and sit for a minute and think about what you want to do you'll be more successful.

Gah. This happens to me each time. Oddly enough, the time I stayed lucid the longest was my first LD. Last night I had the same excitement problem. I try to stay calm, but it rarely works.

I have managed to do the spinning thing and to feel an object, focusing on the texture. Those have kept me in the dream world.

Relax! This post oozes stress and anxiety, and if that's the way you are approaching LDing too, no wonder you woke up!

I like to just stop and do a couple of reality checks (like putting a finger through your palm), even if you KNOW you are dreaming. Even if you wake up right after, it's cool to do some of the impossible-in-RL RCs anyways. Then I like to just look around and focus on how realistic everything is- sight, texture, and sound especially. For example, I only recently started to look down at my own body, which I never do in dreams, and that automatically made my dreams much more three-dimensional. Once the dream is stable and I'm 100% lucid (nothing sucks more than a low level lucidity LD ), I go and do whatever it is I wanted to do.

It's very important to stabilize a dream before you do anything else. Make sure you are at 100% lucidity. Believe it or not, you can lose lucidity very easily, often by heading off to go do something. I've basically ruined at least 7 LDs by realizing it was a dream, then immediately trying to go do one of my goals and forgetting that it was a dream. This is, unfortunately, easier than it sounds... no matter how badly you wanted to have a LD! So don't make the same mistake!

DON'T pinch yourself! When I pinch myself in dreams, I feel it, and I've missed out on a half dozen cool dreams that way because I thought I was awake. My reality check of preferance is to look down at my watch. I never wear a watch, so that itself usually tips me off, but numbers are funny things in dreams. If you look at a watch, turn away, and look back, the numbers will have changed, proving that you're asleep. It's actually really cool

Liten to these guys when it comes to grounding yourself in a dream. Calm down, sit still and focus on something around you. Don't worry, it gets easier with practice.

Oops! I forgot to add that I agree, it's a really great idea to look at yourself when you're dreaming, even just for fun. One of my favorite parts of lucid dreaming is seeing what neat costume my subconsious has dressed me in! XD

Edit: Hmm...Note to self, there's an Edit button.

I have some old advice but for a new reason. RELAX. But for me if I don't relax I can keep the dream for while. If I run out of the room looking for something to do, the dream only lasts a minute or two. This is because I am so worried about the dream ending before I can do what I want, I rush it and think about the dream ending. Then it is game over.

I hope you take the advice given to you about relaxing. If you feel the dream fading once you are lucid, you can also try spinning your dream body around your own axis, or rubbing your hands together.

What I do when I attain lucidity: nothing.

I rubbed my hands together which was pretty crazy

but I spun around last time I was lucid and it was like the force of spinning myself around was like the feeling of being on a roller coaster and your face being pulled back because of the speed. It woke me up!!!

Make sure to relax. Touch the roof of your mouth with your tongue and stare at your hands for clarity. Thats what I do.

This morning, I had my 3rd and longest official LD using the WILD technique. My problem is, I always wake my self up from becomming too excited and rushing into things and what I've come to realize is that I find it very difficult to control my dream body w/o moving (or at least trying to move) my real body. And this of course always results in me waking up!

I know that I am a beginner and that it will take practice learning how to control my dream body w/o agitating my real one, so I don't know if anybody has any tips in this department or if this is something that I'm going to have to figure out myself...

Really, take the advice on calming down and grounding yourself in the dream. It will help the dream be more detailed, plus it gives you time to think. But if you find it hard to get calm, just accept whatever level you can get yourself to and don't worry about it.

Everyone says excitement wakes you up, but I've never found that to be the case. Personally I think it is the beliveing that something will wake you up (wether that is sex, excitement, or turtles) is what really wakes you up. Your subconscious loves to make sure your beliefs are affirmed in dreams.

      Good luck!
