      Appearing Lucid in a Square

Last night I became lucid and I could not leave the square I was in. In the dream, it was a huge field with rivers and such, but when I became lucid it all turned to darkness and it was like the only part that was "loaded" was the big square of land. I rubbed my hands together for a second and I knew this LD wouldn't last long, and I tried to fly through the blackness into another dream. Everything went dark and I lost track of it and I was waking up.

Lame. So what do you guys think this was and how do you fix it? =P

I wouldn't worry too much about it unless it consumes your entire experience.

I've had LD's where my bedroom was intact, but when I floated through the ceiling and above my house there was nothing but a field of blue, (absolutely no detail). It kind of gave me vertigo, like what would happen if I just fell forever into the blue nothing?

But it was a one time thing and it can be attributed to any number of things. Stress or a messed up sleep cycle where your not obtaining deep enough REM sleep to get a good detailed LD going.

Maybe the reason you couldnt leave the square is because you were focusing on it too much. I had a lucid dream where i kept sliding past where i wanted to go and somebody said it was because i focused on how i slid around the first time.
I dunno but maybe don't focus on the fact that you can't leave... focus more on making like a door that takes you somewhere else.
      maybe...

I agree with this, in some LD's I can't fly because I'm too consumed with not being able to fly the first try, then it becomes frusterating and I move on.
