Sleep paralysis - advice.

It may have been posted somewhere else, if so I apologise. I am new here - but I have experienced sleep paralysis many times. In average 5/6 times a month. I know what you're thinking.. hectic life or etc. And you're right , but hey, that's off subject. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paralysis Anyway, I`ll go straight to the advice since I assume you either know what it is , or read the wiki article. My advice to dealing with it is this: calm down. Yes you're awake. Yes, you cannot move at all. Yes you feel a very deep urge to scream, cry, panic - but don't. Have you ever seen Kill Bill? If not , there is a scene where the main character is recovering from a coma and is paralyzed. She just focuses on her big toe. Move that big toe. Nothing else. This is my advice to you , and the one I'm always using and calming down. I focus on one of my fingers, or toes, and concentrate in making it move. Yes I do feel a presence in the room or hear strange noises, but the finger keeps me focused, regulates my heart rate, and pumps the adrenaline in my thinking process. When you get 1 single wiggle - you`re out of it. You`re safe. Laugh about it after. Consider it a big achievement. This can only build confidence for the next time it happens. I've reached the point where when I wake up like that, I actually prolong the situation, see how much I last without caving in. Probably not the best idea, but at least I don't have any more problemos with it.
