How many have you had? I have this problem still sometimes, but it used to be much worse with my first lucids. Just gaining experience with what it felt like to be conscious in a dream seemed to help me get accustomed to being in a dream. I found that a lot of what I would do when I became lucid would marvel about how my body was laying in my bed. I'd spend so much time thinking about my body in my bed that that's what I ended up feeling, and then found myself awake laying in bed.

Try using stabilization techniques and just reminding yourself of your dream goals. Always try to get the dream nice and steady around you, and just like with scary things, try to complete erase the thought from your mind by instead getting psyched up with reality checks, textures, sounds, etc. from the dream, and your awesome dream goals and how cool they are going to be and how excited you are for them. Just immerse yourself in it, and also look ahead to your goals instead of worrying about whatifs.

And remember, there's always the DEILD technique. Get very familiar with it so that even if you wake yourself, you're in the perfect position to get back into the lucid.

Yeah, I agree with the above post. Before I attempt a LD I repeat in my head that if I see my hands while I'm dreaming I'll know that I'm dreaming. As soon as I become lucid I immediately look at my hands and study them, helping to ground me in the fact that I'm LDing.

Then I try to tell myself something like this, "I'm dreaming. This is a dream. My physical body is lying in bed in my room and this is a dream."

It helps give you an odd sense of separation while making you aware of the unity of your body and mind. It's really hard to explain, but try telling yourself something that makes you think of you're body just lying in bed while you're focusing on the dream world.

Once I even heard a plastic bag type of noise in my dream and I knew it was just my parents fixing breakfast so in my dream I told myself, "That noise I hear is just my parents fixing breakfast." I was still able to stay in the dream.

      :)

I had my first LD this morning.

I woke up, having 2 dreams, then i logged them in my dream journal.
I was tired so i drifted back into sleep. I was at a beach, it was so vivid.
I could still hear my parents talking in the living room, so i knew i was dreaming.
I woke soon after, it felt like 20 seconds.

The beach was bright and i didn't get so see anything, just hear a radio playing ukulele stuff. The waves. I knew without looking there was a boulder to the right of the hotel pool style chair i was lying back on. I think there was a drink stand behind me.

3 things could've caused me to wake.

      1. First time
      2. Tingly sensation as i went into the LD so at first i tried as hard as i could to wake up.
      3. Parents talking

haha, that sounds EXACTLY like me D:
I've yet to LD, and that has happened about 6 or 7 times.
What i think will work is that when i know that i am dreaming, and thats usually when things are failrly hectic, i'll try to stop time or freeze everything around me, and just focus on attaining more control. Lets hope i can tell that i'm dreaming tonight so i can give it a shot.
But if that fails, i would make sure to reality check when you wake up. about half of my awakenings were false.

Don't worry. You're in control of your LDs. I used to have this problem, too, but it really is easy to fix. So just don't even try to; it'll come naturally if you just ignore it and focus on your environment.
12 LDs at least (most short), all DILD I believe.
