      Dreams based on ideas

Though the title isn't very specific, a more specific one wouldn't fit. Does anyone here know if it is possible to generate a dream scenario, based on an external source such as a book? I would love to place myself smack in the middle of a place like Merlin's Fincayra or Hogwarts from Harry Potter. Has anyone ever done this?

Try auto suggestion by saying out loud to yourself before you go to bed what scenario you want. Or write it down. I tried it a couple times and was unsuccessful but thats just me.

You mean, you want to be in Hogwarts in a lucid dream, or you just want a non-lucid dream about you being in Hogwarts?

If you want a non-lucid dream, you could try autosuggestion. If you want it in a lucid dream, you could teleport yourself, or just spin around with your eyes closed and tell yourself that when you open your eyes you'll be in Hogwarts.

It's incredibly possible, especially once you're actually lucid.

This happens to me whenever I get really into a book or series that I really like. When I read, I see pictures in my mind, so I assume that has a lot to do with why I usually dream in a place I read about a lot.

      I hope it's possible!

Part of the reason why I've wanted to lucid dream is so that I could put myself in my favorite tv show/book/scenario.. (Of course, as a really cool, kick-ass character).

I don't see why it wouldn't be possible. It's your dream, after all. No one else can tell you that something isn't possible.. It's up for you to decide that.
