Saving the state of the dream and reloading.

Last night I had a strange semi-lucid dream in which I had a number-pad tattooed on my left forearm. I could enter a four digit code which would save the current state of the dream, then later, I could revert to the save. I could take risks with little worry about the consequences since I could usually reload from a point earlier.
At one point, I was drinking with a bunch of friends at a bar. I didn't want to get wasted for the rest of the dream, but wanted to drink with my friends. I created a save state, ordered several rounds, let the scenario play out a bit more, then reloaded and continued the night after having just a few drinks.

I found this method to allow the dream to take whatever course it naturally would, without exerting excessive force to control events in the dream, but still allow me to take risks or do things without regard for the consequences.

On another note, while the number pad was just an odd creation and not necessary to creating save points, it would also be a useful way to enter various cheat codes and almost always be available (unless you lose an arm).

That's such an awesome idea! I really like the "save, reload" theory. I'll definitely try that when I get back into Lding.
