      flying disappointment

i was lucid the other night and was in my house in my dream. I tried to fly through my roof into the universe but i just kept bumping into the roof and i couldnt get past it. i didnt want to go downstairs and exit the door just to go outside because i lose lucidity very fast by just a mere distraction and the dream can just change out of nowhere (i've heard some spinning technique or something about that).

but how would you go about making yourself capable of flying past the annoying roof? should i have imagined it as water or something?

Just more practice. Although a dream, your brain usually finds it hard to create phenomena, which are unrealistic or impossible in waking life i.e flying and bypassing solid objects. Try first to move through walls so you get grip of it, then combine it with flying, for example
Jujutsu is the gentle art. It's the art where a small man is going to prove to you, no matter how strong you are, no matter how mad you get, that you're going to have to accept defeat. That's what jujutsu is.

If you can't phase through it, trying busting through it with brute strength. Alternatively, if there's a window nearby, you could use that.

I can't phase through solid object very well, but windows seem to be a lot easier to pass through, for me at least.

I've never been able to put my finger through my hand in RCs either, and I haven't flown yet either, maybe tonight

Personally I find phasing through things to be very easy. Took me a bit of practice when I was starting, but now it's easy like I said. What you should do is practice moving through windows like the above poster said.

Windows are clear making it so you can see what's on the other side. This makes it easier to phase through because your mind can comprehend what's on the other side. What I did my first time was place my hand on the glass and slowly try to make it pass through.

Keep trying until you start getting some results practice makes perfect.
