Does dream control have to do with ldreaming

What i mean is, when i know that i'm dreaming i'm able to do what i want. But when i don't know that i'm dreaming, sometimes i do what dcs want me to do or, i don't do what i intended to do. So does this mean in my case that i have to have dream control in order to be lucid? I mean if i know that its a dream why would i do what a dc wants me to do? Or why would i not be able to do a lucid task?

I'd say it's the other way around; you have to be lucid in order to have dream control.
No one can control themselves during a regular dream because obviously we don't know we're dreaming. We're not conscious of what's happening and therefore just sit back and watch as our brain does everything for us. It creates the situations, the actions, reactions and conclusions.
But when we're lucid, we take control.

It is possible to have at least minimal control in non-lucids, depending on the dream. After all, it's still a creation of your own mind. You can choose your own actions the same as you would in real life (although obviously they won't be lucid choices).

Of course, you will always have better chance at controlling a dream if you actually know you're dreaming, but it isn't the control that actually makes a dream lucid. To be lucid is to simply know that you are dreaming. In some lucids I seem to have worse control than I do in non-lucids. Again, it really just depends on the dream.

you don't have to have any dream control to become lucid. But this dream won't be that fun. Dream control is exactly what it sounds like, the control you have over everything in your lucid dream. So lets say your lucid task is to fly across a city, you need dream control to do that.
