Dream of being trapped in water barely breathing?

I've been having a re-occurring dream for a while, and it involves my head being trapped underwater (sink, bath, swimming pool) and I am able to breathe, but barely. If I take too deep of a breath I feel like I would drown. Although I am trapped and cannot move, I feel quite calm and I feel scared but at peace/relaxed.
I've searched for an answer but I cannot find anything specifically like this.

I am also having dreams of an apocalyptic nature. My most recent the world was infested with zombies, I swam through a sea of dead bodies and stood idly as people I knew were cryogenic-ally frozen.

Let's hope that our hunch is correct, because water dreams are so much better than real-life dreams. Look at Inception, for example: the trailer alone hints at crumbling cliffs, zero-gravity punch-ups and entire cities that spectacularly fold in on themselves. Meanwhile, what's the most exciting dream that you've had recently? The one where you wandered around a shoe shop hurling handfuls of your own teeth at your old headmaster? Hardly compares, does it?

The water represents your unconscious negative thoughts and emotions. If you are drowning, or having trouble breathing it's a symbol for your feelings of being overwhelmed or emotionally suffocated by fears, insecurities, or other negative thoughts.

A dream like this is telling you to talk to people about your problems, and seek guidance. Look for some support.

i was thinking you might have your head buried in your pillow which constricts your breathing, and that just goes into the dream?
They say dreaming is dead, no one does it anymore.
It's not dead it's just that it's been forgotten, removed from our language.
Nobody teaches it so nobody knows it exists.
The dreamer is banished to obscurity.
Well, I'm trying to change all that, and I hope you are too.
      By dreaming, every day.

The best solution would be to take a deep breath. Being underwater is your dream sign, and the fact that you're already breathing is your reality check. Relax, you're safe, now breathe in.

I pick up a half-eaten copy of a book by Neil Gaiman, and decide this is all his fault.

I was lucid for the first time as a kid because I was trapped in a covered jacuzzi. Water is still a dream sign I use, if that helps you at all. [edit: Samael's post just came up after I finished mine, so yeah, dream signs and so forth]

Have you checked out the Global Tag Cloud? Water is the fourth highest tag after school, flying and lucid. Seems to be a common theme, and that's in my dreams as well.
