Is having monotonous dreams about "Pong" normal?

This dream i had was my old school freind showing me his "new" Atari and it had pong on it. it seemed i played it for several hours, at which time, i woke up. I remember asking myself, "What the hell was that?"

Wow! How old are you that you even know what "Pong" and Atari are?

Everyonce in awhile our Dreams like to showcase our talents. Musicians often dream of playing in concert. Dancers dance. Singers sing. It's the way our Higher Mind has of validating our endeavors.

You must be a passably good Pong player. In my young buck days, decades ago, I was the best Pong Player in my district, but there were a few guys that could come into town to beat me. I was always a good sport about it, and I could say I actually enjoyed watching anybody who could play that good. Also, losing isn't entirely bad, since by losing you show everybody that you are vulnerable, and that brings back the betting that usually dries up if you seem too invincible.

But when that silly Pac Man came out, it put my 'game' out of business. C'est la vie.

Why does everyone say how weird they are if you have weird dreams? Dreams are just a jumble of signals from the nerves that your brain tries to makes something of them and also thoughts, experiences, and ideas. All that, plus the fact that logic is shut down in your dreams makes it so your dreams are very illogical, and often seem to not represent your mind whatsoever (however we use this forum to try to make something of them). Depending on how deep you think your mind can be, maybe this represents anxiety, impatience, or boredom.

Are any of these three things (i.e. anxiety/impatience/boredom) affecting you in your waking life? Also, you may think your life is monotonous from going "back and forth" and doing the same thing every time (e.g. pong). That's just one interpretation. Try to connect it with experiences from your life.

Hey, I've dreamed about Starcraft in various ways, and that's no more wierd than dreaming about "Pong". Have you been playing it a lot lately? I find that I used to play it so much and had numerous dreams, that if I go back to it for even a short time, those dreams will come back.

We tend to dream about what's "important" in our lives, in the sense that we dedicate time to them. If video games are a big deal to you, it makes sense they'd appear when you were asleep.

Apparently you are a very low dreamer. There is the Darkness and there is the Light. Your argument is coming out of the most primitive Darkness. Read some of the other posts around here and point out that they are random firings of excited nerve ends and how all logic has been suspended. I suspect you are speaking only of your own hellish dreams.

And what are you doing here if you are indeed such a Dream Atheist?

Unfortunately I do not understand what you are saying here. "A very low dreamer." I was not aware that there were "heights" of dreamers. What do you mean by "coming out of the most primitive darkness?" "Speaking of your own hellish dreams" Excuse me?

Dream Athiest? A non believer in dreams? What do you mean by that?

In my opinion dreams are a reflection of the experiences of our waking life. It is our subconscious mind taking the time to make sense of all the things that happen when the conscious is in control. Since things we do in real life tend to appear more often in our dreams, it only makes sense that the subconscious is taking longer to process these memories.

Beyond that, the rest is hypothesis.

Leo Volont, I AM 13, and I find it quite funny about how my fairly big knowledge of things from 70's below are stumping my schoolroom chums. Furthermore, I am an avid gamer and (what you would say) an expert at some fps (first person shooter) games. So, that wouldn't surprise me. My uncle (16) and I will usually sit at his place and play Duck Hunt for a long time, sometimes 1-2hours. Quite fun.

I too am curious if anyone else has ever had these sort of monotonous dreams. I've never dreamt of pong but I did have a dream once where I was playing Tetris for a long time. And once I was playing Kirby doing the same thing over and over again (like those 2D Mario levels that loops you back around to the beginning of a stage block if you didn't go over/under platforms in the correct sequence, you know what I'm talking about?). Or you know those screen savers that have the pipes constantly moving around filling up the screen? I had a dream where I was basically just watching that screen saver for a long time.

This dreams usually only happen when I'm sick. And it's not just the dream. I'll wake up with a headache, and i'll have trouble trying to go back to sleep because my mind will still be thinking about that monotonous thing. I'll finally fall back asleep and continue dreaming about the same thing. It lasts for a while and a good portion of the night will be that sort of restless sleep where I'm sort of half awake for much of it and fully wake up several times through the night.

Anybody else ever experience dreams like this?

(edit* haha, I just realized that this thread is 6 years old... oops)
