Any help on the meaning behind this dream

I was living in Sydney, and was trying to look up an old partner as we lost contact for a few years. I was with friends (that I don’t know who they are lol not friends of mine at this present time) we were at a court house for some reason because he were due to attend a hearing on custodial issues, he seen me sitting in the gallery and we arranged to meet for drinks after the session, anyway then I went to my apartment and was getting ready to go and meet up and my friends were trying to talk me out of it saying that so many years have past there is most probly nothing between us now and I should just not go to meeting. Like I said really weird I woke up as I was sitting on his couch and we were talking about what we have both done in the years that have passed since we last communicated with one another. .

Sometimes it is easier to try to interpret a dream of another person, if the dreamer tells more about feelings in a dream and a bit about character of real persons, which you dream about and what kind of relationship you have with them. Just try to take for yourself what makes sense to you and leave what doesn't. So...I would try with ask some questions like...what is the custody, it seems like if there was something you created together and stil has to be taken care of. The relationship has probably produced something meaningful. You can also ask yourself, if it is possible, that your ex-partner in dream represents your inner part, maybe the part, which seeks for understanding and being heard(you talk with this dream character at he end of the dream). There also seem to be other parts of your inner self(friends), which are trying to turn you away from this man, which can also represent you inner stronger part(masculine part).
