Thread: Dream involving rabid wolf

In a way, I've had this dream twice, though some details are different. In the first one, I was on a sidewalk out front of my parents' suburban house (in the dream) and in the second I was in my front yard in the country.

In both, I hear a rabid wolf in the darkness ahead of me and off to the right. He sounds ferocious but I'm neither surprised to hear him nor particularly afraid. I knew he was there, I know he is after me, I know the dogs will take the attack. I don't know that I feel particularly safe. More apathetic. Or resigned might be more the word for it.

As he attacks, my dogs all immediately jump between me and him and take the attack. It is fierce and loud and violent. His eyes are focused on me, but he tears into the dogs. I take a step back, but other than that, I'm passive. I don't really feel anything at all. I have felt more involved in shows I watch on television. It's just happening.

Then I get sprayed by the saliva from the rabid animal and wake up.

In the first one, I was sprayed just because of the ferocity of the battle. In the second, it was because I didn't think the puppy should be in the fight and I reached into the fight to try to pull him out. (The puppy was a new addition between the two dreams as well. The first I had two nights before we got him and the second I had the night after we got him.) Again, there's not a lot of emotion. I just sort of think, "You probably don't belong there," and pull him out. I'm not really afraid of the battle or for him, but I know a puppy doesn't belong there, either.

Sort of at a loss for what this means, if anything?
