Dreamed of every band member sleeping...

I once saw The New Pornographers live in concert. Some time later, I dreamed I was in a building and I went into a room in which some of the members were and I saw them sleeping while sitting on couches. I went through another door, Down some stairs and into another room in which more members were sleeping while sitting. I then went back upstairs, Took care to not wake anyone and went out the door I entered which was locked a little bit later and I couldn't get back in.

Perhaps I perceived all 8-10 members to be spiritually asleep?

Perhaps you perceived your being joined to a band or to others to be asleep though. I don't know.

Or it might pertain to what you think of The New Pornographers.
You took care not to wake this aspect. And couldn't get back in. So you didn't want to wake up what they meant, which may explain why you couldn't get back in: you didn't want to.

So, take 3.
If you perceive the band to be Spiritual, then it means you saw you were spiritually asleep, regarding joining with others.
But you didn't want to wake that up.

No. Take 4.
So if you perceive this band might be meatheads as their name sounds - perhaps if you are in a transition ~ you wanted this part of yourself to remain asleep, as you went upstairs to the higher level or thought in you. That can better explain why you didn't want it to wake up, and locked out.
They were sitting, meaning it was awake in you before.
And downstairs is the lower you, which you didn't want to take to the higher you wehn you went back there.

As usual, any bit of reality the dreamer says lends itself to lucid dream interpretation.

Thanks, I'll think about it.

This dream was a few years ago. Despite the band's name, They have few cuss words in their songs; I can only think of one or two of their songs with such words and they're both by Dan Bejar who writes and sings a few of their songs.

I think your interpretation is at least fairly close. I may have idolized the band at one time, Making things up about them, And once I saw them in concert I realized "Oh, They're only human like me."

Sorry I judged a band by its name.

Maybe substitute your transition or realisation with the idea that what you idolized was asleep.
Or you were asleep to idolize them. Not an idea that would wake you.
So maybe you saw you were spiritually asleep in that way.

But maybe simply it's just the idea you had about them went asleep in you, and you wanted to keep it that way.

Hey, I don't have worries or hard feelings over that judgment. Please don't beat yourself up over it. (Come to think of it, Why do people do that? Is it so others won't pounce on them? I think when people do that it's far worse than if they were pounced on and yes, I've done it - Beating myself up, That is - Too.)

Certainly my previous thoughts of them "Went to sleep" and I couldn't get back into that old way of thought of them.

After I saw them live I stopped listening to them as much, I thought that was to cement the performance in memory better. It's not as if I didn't enjoy the performance, I did. The best way I can say the next sentence is, I think the magic faded; The curtains were opened.

This next bit is a bit off-topic: After I saw them live, I started listening to another band (XTC) a lot who stopped touring before I was born. They were often depressing as opposed to The New Pornographers who were like a sugar cube. I suppose it's like the rebound of drinking coffee; There's a high, Then there's a low to keep things in balance.

Thanks - yeh I thought you probably wouldn't worry about it, and I wasn't really beating myself up except a bit at first.
So mostly it was my exaggerated sense of humour.
But yeh - I did it so you wouldn't pounce on me.

By totally counteracting it.

Ironic TNP were a sugar high, and XTC were downers!
Maybe you can judge a band by its name - if you think opposite.

As for the opposite thing with band names, I don't see it that way but I may be overlooking something. Some bands have appropriate names but "It only does what it says on the tin can, Bob - Not what you think"; The "Pain relief" Band name only relieves pain while giving it back later, So it seems.
