Although it would usually be best to have general background information about you as well as recent events just before the dream in order to provide an accurate interpretation, it’s clear that it comes from the deepest layers of your psyche because of the image of the moon surrounded by the planets, that is, an image which is completely contrary to “normal outer reality”.
So the dream is a very basic and important one for you and probably also hints, because of the presence of a giant plasma “lunar system”, that the problem or situation being described could be quite common in general terms among many other people as well.
The “as if” language of the dream places you in a space station far above the earth.
That is, on analogy, you maybe tend to be understandably very strongly influenced by the current technological, intellectual and scientific leaning of society because a space station is of course a completely mechanical and electronic creation. In addition, you would love to go into space yourself someday.
A satellite is also “far above the earth” and therefore on analogy, there is nothing very “natural” or “earthy” about it.
The dream shows you as purposely going to look at the moon from this overall “viewpoint” (the observation deck) and perhaps in a usual “scientific” way.
But without of course any influence being possible from an atmosphere, the moon turns out to be a dull orange.
Color symbolism in dreams is very complicated but generally speaking, orange is often related to pride and ambition.
Maybe what the moon symbolizes has been “stained” by these attitudes in society as a whole and the dream is hinting that this could come to affect you as well in some way.
In dreams, the moon usually symbolizes such so-called “feminine” aspects as the body, the earthy, the always changing, the intuitive, the indirect, instinctive natural reactions, and our emotional and relationship life in general.
These symbolical attributes are in contrast with the sun’s which are generally connected with the sky and air, the fixed, the rational, the piercing intellect and with thinking in general.
Dreams are usually trying to balance out an attitude of the dreamer which could become too one-sided if not dealt with over time and which could therefore cause some physical and/or psychological upsets on a range from the minor to the serious depending on the difficulties caused by the one-sidedness overall.
So in this approach to your dream, it’s possible that you could be drifting too much into a one-sided intellectual, “scientific” and “airy” approach to life in general, understandably influenced by the society around you which generally values this overall attitude.
To help counter and balance out this drift towards “mind” vs. “Earth”, the dream shows the moon as holding a place of honor “at the center” as opposed to the sun.
Maybe the “plasma” around the moon with the planets in it is hinting at the idea of an ovum (egg) which can develop over time into your true personality as influenced by many inner and outer forces (the planets).
These influences are essentially beyond the ego’s control, but they have to be faced and dealt with effectively in a total overall approach instead of maybe relying on a sort of narrow framework which could be destroyed very easily, just like a space station could destroyed if hit by an unexpected small meteor for example.
Laughing uncontrollably after seeing this exciting image of the moon with her planets perhaps could also be called “laughing hysterically”.
So maybe if you aren’t able to gradually take in the idea that the “moon” is equal in its own way to the “sun”, you might tend to experience at times some uncontrollable emotions because your emotional life overall has been ignored to much in a practical way.
It’s possible that the dream in this way is hinting that mankind in general is acting in a “lunatic” way (from the Latin “lunaticus” = “moonstruck” from “luna” = moon) by, for example, what many say is a tremendous waste of money in maintaining a space station in orbit and planning trips to Mars etc. etc. when the Earth itself is in danger due to climate change and many other issues.
In this way of looking at your dream, the way it ends could be saying something like “OK, this is the way it stands, so are you going back to life as usual [living quarters] or are you going to take some needed action to bring in a different way of looking at things?”
Anyway as mentioned, without knowing anything about you, this approach to your dream may not fit your personal circumstances very well, but I hope these ideas can be helpful in some way.
