      Recurring Plane crash dream

First, brief history. My father was killed in an Air Force plane crash when I was 1 year old. Obviously I have zero memory of him other than what family and friends have told me. Whether that is integral to the dream or not, I have no idea.

In my dream, that i have had 8-10 times now...

I am in a passenger plane on take off. As it reaches altitude it goes into an uncontrollable fall. Sometimes it is a dive. In the latest occurrence it rolled over and fell upside down. I could see it starting to fall back through the clouds and as it did I closed my eyes (in my dream) and felt an incredible feeling of peace and acceptance come over me. I thought of my parents and brothers and said goodbye to them. And then I woke up. Upon waking I was not short of breath, or excitable or even anxious. I felt the same peace, almost disappointed to be awake.

It isn't always like that. I have felt scared, sad, panicky and even amused in the other times I can remember having this dream.

Any input is appreciated. Thank you.

I think it may be a dream about your reaction to death. I once had a near death experience which felt peaceful and spiritual, and I think your dream was like that, but it had not always been that way because your attitude toward death is complex and changes. Part of life is preparing for and ultimately perhaps accepting death, though it may become too much so especially if one is depressed and focuses more on death when one should focus on life, but some contemplation of the subject of death at times is natural. In your case it is an airplane crash because your father died that way.

Of course it could also be less literal. It may be about crashing, falling, failing at something. Willingness to accept failure or imperfection, willingness to accept lack of freedom and inevitability and lack of control.

I could be wrong though. If none of these sound right, please ignore.
You may say I'm a dreamer.

The post above me might be right but I think possibly it's about something where you fall metaphorically either as a person (from the ideals) or in a more specific real life event. And after this fall, you accept yourself even love yourself again.
