Talking A Different Kind Of Falling Dream...?

Hello there. I am not entirely comfortable making this forum, talking about myself.
But for some time ago now (back in the beginning of March), I had this confusing dream, sort of strange in a way.. And to this day, I still wonder deeply about it.

I dreamt that I was being pushed over the edge of a big old building/castle by someone that I knew (I believe it was an old teacher of mine, but I am not 100% sure). It wasn't that I was scared or that we were enemies in any way, we smiled. This person then pushes me over the edge and I'm falling, I was wearing this long white gown with these huge arm sleeves (it looked like something a witch would wear). I had black pants on underneath it, and the weirdest part of this dream was that I didn't look anything like myself. I looked older and I had long black hair, instead of being brunette and quite young as I am right now. But basically everything about my outward apperance was different, I couldn't recgonize myself, but I knew it was me. While I was falling I smiled, and I looked really happy and free. There was a big audience for some reason, I don't think I knew any of them. They were just watching me fall, walking around, some of them looked like they were in distress.

With most falling dreams, you hit the bottom and wake up. Normally it's because you die in the dream. But another weird thing about what I dreamt, was that I hit this big blue soft madress looking thing, and I was still alive. The last thing I remember from the dream was the people coming over to me.

Oh, and me (the dreamer) wasn't falling, I was looking at myself or somone who was me (as explained above as well). I was watching the entire time, in a cinema-looking-place. Another thing was that, the dream is entirely way too familiar, I can't pinpoint what it is, only that it had a familiar feeling.

In the dream, me the watcher, also thought a lot about showing my best friend Alex this. And what this is... I don't know. The more I look back on it, it seemed like I was watching a video of myself falling, and I wanted to show my best friend that? My friend was a constant thought that kept popping up. I did tell Alex about the dream and we talked a bit about it.

This dream was also on repeat, so it ended, then it started again... And that is not the first time I have tried that when I am dreaming.

I have been looking for interpretations of the dream online, but I can't find anything that feels relevant to me. All the interpretations lead to the dreamer being scared of falling, falling to their death, being pushed by someone and that someone is supposed to be bad for the person in real life and so on. I can't find anything on the dreamer being extremely happy and being alive once they hit the bottom... or whatever that bottom really is.

So, the purpose of this post would be to hear your opinion on this dream. Thank you to anyone who shares their thoughts and feelings on this.

Although in order to provide a more accurate interpretation it would usually be best to have some additional general background information about you, it’s safe to say that this dream came from the deeper layers of your unconscious.

This is shown by the hints about old castles, witches and the very long fall that you’re watching.

This type of dream usually appears at important times of transition in the dreamer’s life and therefore contains important information that can help the person move forward in a better way.

The importance of your dream is also shown by the fact it repeated itself in a kind of loop at the time and that you’ve now been thinking about it for months.

As you’ve found, online isn’t the best place overall to look for answers about the meaning of dreams but a few ideas can be tried out to see if they might fit your personal circumstances in some way.

Just to start off by saying that dreams express their meaning by analogies and metaphors which can often be very complex, so without knowing anything much about you and Alex, the following ideas can only be very general ones.

For example, the fact that you’re looking at yourself as if in a movie/video could show that you’re kind of too detached from certain realities in some way at certain times.

These realities might relate to how you look to others at times; that is, you may not realize how you really look to others in certain circumstances and the dream is trying to show you this.

That’s because clothes in dreams usually symbolize our outer “look” and our normal ways of acting when around other people.

In your dream, it’s “you” but you look different, almost “witch-like” (e.g. you’re quite old and have long black hair; the gown has witch-like long sleeves).

So it’s possible that while you usually look very feminine and agreeable to others (e.g. the long white gown), maybe sometimes you unfortunately “wear the pants” too much (e.g. the black pants under the gown) without realizing this.

For example, you could sometimes be expressing certain opinions and beliefs in a kind of “witch-like way” as if they are the only ones possible and this might upset others who have another viewpoint. Or there is a current trend in yourself that could lead to this problem in the future.

If so, any such situation could lead to a serious “fall” and damage your relationships with others.

The dream probably shows that, if anything like this is actually going on in your life (or could be in the future), it isn’t your fault because you’ve been “pushed into it” (the old teacher pushes you over the edge of the castle).

In this way of looking at your dream, the teacher could symbolize a certain “academic”, “collective” and “intellectual” mode of thinking and acting, one that is kind of approved by society but which can cause various problems if it isn’t conscious and controlled enough.

For example, the broad environment in which you grew up could have encouraged this outlook which probably has brought various nice rewards and successes in school etc.

If so, you might be often “flying high” because of this pleasant situation (high up on the castle wall) and could often willingly “fall in with” this attitude too much (smiling while you’re being pushed off the high wall and while falling).

The dream might be saying that any such state of affairs might be OKAY for a while and seem to give you agreeable rewards which “save the day” to some extent (you fall on the blue mattress, the color “blue” symbolizing the intellect, opinions and thoughts etc.).

But a mattress probably can’t really be relied on to always work to successfully cushion any “fall” in the future.

As mentioned, a symbol is based on analogy, so a fall from any height means that we weren’t “on the ground” and part of “hard reality” before the fall.

That is, we might have been on a “head trip”, taken in and understandably impressed by the “high up” perspective of being successful etc., especially in front of an “audience” (e.g. as you were in the cinema).

The danger is in potentially coming to believe that we’re more than we are, e.g. more special, wiser, powerful or important etc.

In the dream, wanting to show Alex what was going on could mean that Alex has a certain way of looking at things overall that it would be helpful for you to adopt as well.

As a very general example, maybe he’s more laid back about what he achieves, doing enough but not overdoing it.

Anyway as mentioned, without knowing anything much about you, this way of looking at your dream might not fit your personal circumstances very well, but I hope these ideas can be helpful in some way.

Please feel free to ask any questions or to make any comments about this particular way of looking at your important dream.
