Hey, I was wondering if anyone knew how accurate your feelings in dreams and what you do (that is possible to do in real life under a normal circumstance) are to the way you feel and would act in real life. I'm only 16, but I suffer from incredibly violent dreams (which is the reason I sought out lucid dreaming in the first place, to maybe prevent or change my nightmares) about 2 or 3 nights a week. I'm not really a violent person though, some would say I have a temper, but I'm usually very tolerant of most people. Most of my dreams involve me either hurting someone, defending myself (and by doing so hurting someone), or I am the one being hurt and I die (which ultimately happens in most of my dreams anyway). Either way someone dies very very graphically. Although recently I had one in which I was putting people (family and friends) out of their misery because they were mortally wounded (which as if that wasn't hard enough, they wouldn't die after I had tried to kill them and I only helped in adding to their suffering). My question is am I really that angry (or scared or frightened I don't know, but in my nightmares I usually feel fear over anger though) in real life and am I just not dealing with it the right way or something similar to that? Also, if I have a dream in which I am intimate with a girl who is not my girlfriend, does that mean I want to be with her in real life too, regardless of what I may tell myself? Do I want the same things in real life that I do in my dreams? Thanks in advance for replies.

I think you're trying to look at your dreams too literally.

Though there is often an once of truth behind the dream, in actuality it’s all exaggerated. Especially for someone your age. Just like someone your age usually overreacts emotionally to everything (with just cause, everyone is a mess at that age… over stimulated and chemical imbalance… bad combo). The difference between a feeling in a dream and a feeling in real life is that, in real life, you have to use self control. In the dream you are free to do as you please. Though generally the way you react in your dream at your age is usually primal. Run from something, Beat up someone, kill something, f_ck someone, bla bla bla. You just don’t have enough (diverse) life experience at that age to help you do anything else in your dreams.

You are 16, of course your have violent tendencies (Look at your user name ). Thank god for self control. Apart from your poetry (which is dark and probably not helping your graphic violent dreams situation), do you do anything like play baseball (hehehe) or something? Get on your bike and ride around or something. Ride to a park and watch the people play with their dogs, get some friends and play freesbe… Anything to expose those neurons to something enjoyable. Anything to replace the dark metaphorically driven imageries in your mind.

Yes to all the questions posted here…
Your thought processes are fucked up (no insult intended; you are 16, remember?) and so are your dream’s representation of your daily problems. If you were older, like 30+, I’d recommend seeing a doctor, but you are 16, you’re messed up just like everyone else!

Quick dream analysis: Maybe the solutions you use to solve your real life problems are not quite ideal or thought through (quick and easy) and have unexpected repercussions? See a problem (mortally wounded friend) Quick fix (Kill them. Must be better than dying right?) Nope. Unexpected outcome. They don’t die and they are now in worst shape When you get older, you’ll see that instead of shooting them like dogs, you would rather tend to their needs until they pass on or heal. Real life translation: acquire a better way of solving life problems, use a pro active solution as opposed to a dismissive one.

These dreams will always be there though not as frequent when you get older. Us men like diversity and dreams are a good way to get it without repercussion. Just don’t tell your girlfriend about those (especially if the dream girl is someone in real life).

Anyway, I hope this helps you.

I agree with the last interpretation that just being 16 is part of the explaination, adolescence is not the best part of life, it's the worst! But I had no such dreams. I guess you have a lot of conflicts. One single major conflict would be represented by a war, so you must be having lots of nasty little ones; things that seem to threaten you, personal tendencies, bad relationships, nuisances, and other shaping forces for the worse. You might be under a lot of stress in general, which I was.
