Okay, this dream is bugging me, so here's my DJ entry. I'd be REALLY glad to see what other people make of this experence...

2 - August - ???? // Non-lucid // Very high vividness // Medium length // Standard Dream

Title: "The Red Girl"

This was a weird dream. Not weird because of the content, but weird because in this dream, the main DC is somebody who I've never ever met in real-life, but in the dream, they were SO vivid and had a vivid personality, appearance, and relation to me. Huh. In the dream, I didn't know this girl's name, but she knew mine I think. I remember wondering in the dream what her name was, but I never asked her. So...

I'm going to call her "The Red Girl", because I have an impression that in the dream, she was wearing red of some kind.

This dream starts off with me in a contract class, early in the morning. This alone should have made me realise I was dreaming, as my contract class is in the early afternoon. The lecture theater is also a lot different from the real-life Contract lecture theater, and we have a different, unknown new lecturer. Can't remember what the lecturer looks like. Anyway, this lecture theater is a lot smaller and looks sort of like a tutorial room. I'm sitting at a bench with my work out, writing notes, and the lecturer pauses. I realise that there is a girl I don't know sitting next to me.

The Red Girl.

I look at her. She is blonde, slightly smaller than me, and has a funny smile. She is a little bit plain, but in a very attractive sort of way. Her hair is silky and well-kept, and goes down slightly past the small of her back.

The Red Girl turns and smiles at me, and we begin talking. Somehow she knows about my new flatting situation, and she asks me a bout it, as she says that she herself is considering going flatting, as her younger brother did about six months ago and it has been making her think of doing the same. She asks me if the flat has a lot of privacy, since it's in a park.

At this point I start to wonder... I never told this girl that the flat was at the park. (Also in real-life, the flat is no-where near a park in Remuera). I tell her that the flat is not at the park, but the park is just accross the road. (At this point I get a vivid flash of this fictional park just across the road from our flat). Anyway, we continue talking about my flatting arrangement until the lecture ends. At this point, we have our next lecture, Torts, with a pretty young female lecturer. (All of this is crap, because in real-life I have torts BEFORE contract and our torts lecturer is a grumpy old woman.)

The lecturer is trying to show us a slideshow for some reason, and has to leave the room for ages to find the slideshow reel that she can't find. So, me and The Red Girl spend the time by talking. When I turn my head to look to the front of the lecture theater, I feel her rest her head upon my shoulder. It's nice, and we talk, and when I turn away again, my long hair gets all messed up and tangled in hers. We laugh and untangle my hair from hers. We continue talking, and she keeps resting her head upon my shoulder. She says a number of quite profound things about my situation but I can't seem to remember them...

What was most odd about The Red Girl was that I had this disconcerting feeling that I actually knew her. I still have this feeling, even though I've never met her before in my life. She has to be by far the most vivid fictionalised DC I've ever had. It took me a full ten minutes thismorning to work out whether this dream was real, or just a dream. That's how vivid it was.

However, I'm DETERMINED to work out who The Red Girl was. Maybe she represents someone else, or an idea or thought, emotion? Huh. I'm not completely sure...

What do ye other people think? Have any of YOU had similar experiences with DCs? For me, this was unusual, as my FICTIONAL DCs are never really all that vivid... Also, what could this Red Girl possibly have represented or meant?

And, more importantly...

How do I get her back again? Because, she was interesting. I want her again in my dreams.

Yes. I've had fictional DC's get pretty vivid myself. I can't really say alot, Interpretation is certainly not my strong suit, but I suppose the girl could have either represented someone in real life, or maybe just represtented females in general. A girl, maybe the 'perfect' girl for you, (depending on your emotions in the dream.) Maybe she just represented the feeling of you wanting a girlfriend? I don't know.

(Or maybe it represented Tia? Haha.)

Heheheh. Nah, The Red Girl was white, and Tia's hispanic. The emotions in my dream were a little weird.

Oh, and during classes, I remembered more of my conversation with The Red Girl. Here's some of the dialogue, loosely accurate to what it was in the dream:

"Will you be able to swindle some money out of mum to buy new shoes?"

I look down at my shoes, and see that the left shoe, as in real-lifew with my favourite pair of shoes, has a tear along one seam and needs repair or replacement. I say: "Oh, no. See, I don't have to worry about money all that much." I get kinda awkward at this point, because previously in the conversation, she was telling me how she wishes she could go flatting, and I had the impression she didn't have a lot of money.

So, I say "I don't need mum to buy me a pair of shoes, I can afford a pair myself, I'm not exactly short on money." I think she smiles, but she looks a little sad that I think she doesn't have all that much money of her own.

About my emotions in my dream: I very vividly remember her resting her head on my shoulder. I remember feeling a bit confused an offput that this girl who I don't know all that well was doing that, but on the other hand, it made me feel a bit warm and fuzzy.

As for the conversation, I can't quite remember my emotions and/or feelings within the dream, but I'll give it a try and post again later if I remember.

But, what I'd really like to know, is how can I get The Red Girl BACK in my dreams? Because, she was an interesting character and it's the first time I've had, in a dream, a DC that felt fully fleshed out and "real". She didn't feel like a part of my subconscious, even though I know she was. Just a product of my imagination. But even so, she FELT "real".

Okay.
I promise I won't tease you.
But do you have a 'crush' on this DC?

Anyway, I'm not sure of a way to get the Red Girl back in your dreams, besides going lucid. I don't know, maybe you'll get lucky and she'll just show up on her own.

I've had a similar dream (non-LD) but with a red "haired" girl namned "Victoria Marie". Different story though, it was more like multiple scenes. She was hispanic or possibly french.

I think if you're experienced enough in LDs you can simply summon her again. I figure you should just think about her and this dream to get her again. Perhaps VILDing. Ever since I had my dream, I've been thinking about her in an attempt to have her in my dream. I've yet to have a lucid dream myself, but plenty of dreams since I discovered LDing.

As for the meaning, I'm just as stumped as you. I figure this is your "dream girl" like Courtney Mae said.

I think that these DCs are people we've seen or met or possibly some sort of combinations of different people.

Yeah, that's what I think too. My mother, for example, frequently has extremely vivid people she has never seen before appear in her dreams... I don't, so much. But yeah, I too think they're likely just combinations of various people from real-life.

And Courtney, do I have a "crush" on The Red Girl? Mhhh... Maybe.

But, it's more that I NEVER get reocurring DCs, and it'd be kind of cool to have one. So, basically, I'm going to see if I can get The Red Girl to appear again in my dreams. I'll try a little light dream incubation, and see if I can get her to pop up again.

And you wake up feeling confused as to why she doesn't exist, and knowing that she doesn't, you feel just a bit more empty on the inside. As if you've lost something...

I'm guessing for your case, but that's exactly what I feel when I get dreams like the one you've just described. Its odd, its as if my brain starts to release a load of endorphins on me, creating a false sense of love for that DC (I'm not lucid in the dream, so I believe its real). That's why I wake up frustrated and off-put.

No... funnily enough, I didn't get that. I wasn't feeling love for her in the dream. She was resting her head on my shoulder, and in the dream, I'm trying to figure out who the hell she is, because I'm SURE I know her from somewhere. She was... I dunno. Weird. Not an ordinary DC...

Oh, shush. In any case, I'm more interested in having a reocurring DC than anything else. I didn't get much sleep last night so I didn't actually HAVE any dreams, but I'm hoping I'll get some REM rebounding tonight and lots of dreams. So, after I watch Dr Who, I'm going to try and incubate her into my dreams. I can't remember many details about her though, I forgot a lot since the dream. I remember she had blonde hair, and was wearing a red top. I think. Hmmmm... I'll probably have to reconstruct an image of her somehow, and fill in the bits I forgot...

I think I know what you mean.

I had a dream recently, in which I was being chased. Someone was trying to change me, to turn me into something else. Normally I'd be scared but this dream was different. There was someone with me. They were dressed in dark clothes, male and blonde with short hair and I was sure I knew them. It was just this feeling, as if they were an old friend who I hadn't seen for a long time; a deep feeling of reassurance and safety. Not once in the dream did I feel scared. The person chasing me was trying to get me onto a train and so I deliberatly got on the wrong one. I left behind all my luggage, I jumped off the train, I ran through the countryside and ended up swimming for a boat. All the time we were running together. In the end I gave up and transported myself away to a forest. When I looked the person was gone. I looked again and this time I glimpsed a fox or a wolf between the trees. I'm sure it was them.

There have always been people in my dreams, but this was the first time that anyone has seemed real. Normally people just flicker in and out. The person has been in my dreams once or twice since then (Most recently they encouraged me to turn and face and fight the monster in a nightmare.), the appearance always different but the feeling I get around them always the same. Safe, content, as if I've been missing something for years and now I'm whole again. I have had many theories as to who they are, from a part of myself to someone in real life with whom I have a psychic link. I still don't know who they are but I don't think I'll ever stop wondering. They felt so real it's hard to believe that they're not.

Is this similar to what happened to you?

Meanie, i think i can help u with this one... because ive gone through this same thing myself... and it took me the longest time to become sure of what it was... is it possible this girl was a representation of a part of yourself?\
two or three years ago i started geting this person in my dreams... sort of like your red girl, only he was a man... a young man about 21 years old and bigger then me... but looked alot like me. he was a reoccurring character in my dreams (which suggests to me that u will see your "red girl" again) but i always had this feeling like i knew him but i knew i had never met this person before in my life. i think now that he represents a part of me... and i think it is the red girl... in reality she is a representation of you which could have been symbolized in your hair getting stuck together when u were with her, and her knowing things about you, and her being so like you. the easiest way to figure it out is just ask her the next time u see her... also if u do see her, u will know u are dreaming so it will be a great dream trigger. id like to hear any thoughts u have about htis.

it might be the same thing for u too wolfe... i think your subconcious puts theese DC into your dreams to give u messages about urself possibly... they can serve as protectors and freinds like your blonde freind wolfe or your red girl... thou i think thats not always the case... ive run into dc's that im sure were also mirror images of the self, only instead of representing the parts that are strong and good... they represent the parts that are evil and bad

Thanks, mountain, I've already given some thought to the possibility that The Red Girl was part of my subconscious, due to the hair-tangling thing. I've had DCs like that before... like, holding hands, etc, often suggest that sort of thing. I'm already proceeding under hte assumption that at some level she represents some part of me, but I'm not sure exactly what. I'm going to see if I can incubate her again. But thanks, mountain, I'm on the same page as you with this dream...

its great to hear that... id be interested to know if she does appear in your dreams again "especially" if its non lucid or she appears without being summoned... as this will help to verify my theory about my own reoccurring dream characters. (is that how u spell reoccurring? just one c maybe?)

i have also had a pretty much the exact same thing, but i always thought that the girl in my dreams was supposed to represent my ex and that i still had feelings for her. i had about 3 dreams with her in is it so you will most likely have another one also.

Thanks Mountain,

The idea had been suggested before but I had no idea other people had had similar experiances. It make sense them being a part of me. The wierd thing is, I can't remember them ever talking. Next time I have a LD I think I'm gonna try and summon them (and/or the monsters that sometimes chase me) and ask them who they are. It would be interesting to find out...

If I do, I'll post it here.
