I thought I posted this a couple of days ago, but I don't see it anywhere, so I'm doing this again. I had this dream back on the night of October 10, but I keep thinking it means something. I would like your opinions on this. I will put the dream in italics and additional comments in normal text.

I was at the foot of a large steep mountain, the likes of which I never saw before. It was white, but not with snow, and the top was a peak shaped like a triangle. I knew I had to get to the top. Rather than climbing it, I got in a white truck or car, I'm not sure which, and with a former co-worker behind the wheel. This co-worker is someone that I was working with about a year ago, and I never had any feelings besides general friendship toward him. Nor have I ever gotten in any vehicle with him. He punched it and we started up the steep slope with great progress. We were nearly to the top when suddenly the wheels lost contact with the mountain, and we started to fall backwards.

"Oh, God!" I had exclaimed as I knew there was no way out of death.
I am not a person who swears, but I recognized that in my dream, this was a plead for help from God, not swearing. I knew I would die, but after I cried out, I was perfectly calm about it. At the moment of impact, there was no noise, no confusion, no pain, and no fear. The dream faded to blackness for a moment.

Next I knew, I was standing again at the bottom of the mountain. My former co-worker was nowhere to be seen, nor was any sign of the car. I thought "I knew I should have just climbed it." and walked toward the mountain to do just that.

I climbed to the left of the ledge, and when I was nearly at the top, I noticed a trail that led off a different way. I saw that trail would be easier than the way I had been going and I took it the trail. It lead into a cave that went through the mountain. I came out into the light and was on the ledge I'd been trying to get to. Looking over the edge, I saw a lot of others climbing the mountain, and more coming to the mountain to climb it. It was some view. Then I got thinking "What about my husband and boys! How will they ever get along without me!"
      Then, I woke up.

Anyone have ideas what this dream could mean, if anything?

Nobody's answered this yet? That sucks. BTW, your original post was lost because a problem with out forum's host lost ALL data including posts over the past four days. Anyway, I'll take a stab.

Some sort of obstacle or ambition? Actually, perhaps a better idea would be CURIOSITY. You wanting to get to the top of the mountain perhaps indeicates a curiousity to see what's on top.

Typical loss of control in dreams. Two possible reasons: Firstly, it could indicate a feeling of helplessness in your real-life with regards to an issue in this dream. Secondly, and perhaps more mundane, is the explanation that in dreams, technology has a tendency to fail. I have a theory about this, all to do with the areas in which technologuical and natural objects, respectively, are recognised in the human brain. Our dreams tend to be more disconnected with recognition and comprehension of technological objexcts, so they malfunction more in dreams.

Could be the first explanation, though: lack of control.

Fear resulting from lack of control. Possibly fear of death, but perhaps more likely a more vague fear about loss of control.

      Curiosity again.

Perhaps indicates that what you're curious about, and maybe are afraid of loosing control over, is something that many others go through? A recognition that you're not entirely alone in the crisis?

Okay, in this dream, I'm sort of getting the impression of a general fear of loss of control and curiosity. I'm, sorry I can't be more specific, but it's hard without knowing more personal details. Perhaps some sort of midlife or quarterlife crisis? Or perhaps something or someone you are curious about has the risk of causing you to loose control, and endanger your relationship with husband and family?

I know how crap and vague that sounds. Kind of reads like one of those stupid vague horoscope predictions, I know. But, any feedback? What sounds right, what sounds wrong? Any more elaboration on the dream or real life you're willing to give?

By the way, I like the avatar. What is it? Looks vaguely celtic, pre-middle ages... welsh? Reminds me vaguely of the Mabinogion or some other Celtic legend... Looks a little too modern and clear to be authentic, though. Faux-Celtic or celtic-inspired or something?

I read after I posted this that there were a lot lost from that last down time. My Avatar...she's a charager in a story I'm writing. I asked someone with talent greater than my own to draw her for me. Queen Scathia of Neuterian. I took the picture and turned it into an avatar.

I appreciate your input about my dream. I see myself that the mountain ledge could represent a goal in my life, though I can't think of what exactly it would be. Something that I'm not the only person striving for.

As a mother of young children, I do worry about them. A lot. I can't think of anything that has happened in the last 2 months that is different from how my life has been going prior to that. My mom broke her hip in August, but is only rarely using a cane now. My husband has changed jobs to provide us a bit more financial security, and is sure he will be able to keep this one. Maybe that's it.

Back in September, he got a job at a call center. After working there for about a month, he was fired for a reason that I think goes back to the quality of the training he got. He then got hired at the place I'm working at, but in a different area. I think that happened about the same time that I had this dream. Do you think this could have brought it on?

Perhaps. But to be honest, the interpretation I gave is so vague that if given to ANYONE, something could fit into it. It's like the horoscopes in the paper, or nostradamus - they work by giving vague interpretations so that ANYTHING can fit into them and seem prophetic.

But I'm seeing this dream has a mix of curiosity, lack of control, some sort of obstacle and a pang of guilt. I think some dreams are to vague and draw from too many unrelated sources in your life to be interpreted as a coherant, meaningful message. *shrugs* As a general indication, the greater the emotional impact the dream has, the more important the content.

I meant to post again sooner, but things at work kind of conspired against me the last few days. I do appreciate your comments about the dream.

Anyone else is welcome to give their input about it.
