There are only parts of the dream I can remember, and usually I don't remember any of it when I get out of bed, but when I wake up first thing in the morning I know I have had the dream many times. This morning I woke up in tears and vividly remembered some serious parts to the dream and I haven't forgotten any of them through-out the day.
I dreamed that my 9 year old daughter went missing and I searched everywhere in our neighbourhood for her. I was in a panic and I eventually called the police. The dream gets fuzzy here but the police end up bringing her to me and she tells me that she was molested for three hours. She is very calm and almost adult-like while telling me this...although she still looks like a child and sounds like a child, just her attitude and demeanour is adult-like. I start to cry and I tell her we are going to the hospital and we are going to talk to the police. She starts to cry and tell me she isn't okay.....and I wake up in tears and hyperventilating......
Like I said, I know I have had this dream many times before, but this is the first time I have remembered it for more than the first few seconds of me waking up and still laying in my bed. I'm sorry to put something like this out to you guys, but I'm freaking out!! Is my dream trying to tell me something? Am I dreaming of what could or is going to happen to my daughter??
I talked to my Mom about this dream and she told me dreams aren't meant to be taken literally and that nightmares are usually worries that you don't want to happen.
Thanks in advance for any advice you guys can offer.
BTW I'm open to answering any questions you may have about my life situation if you think that would help me to figure this out.[/b]
Well... firstly, don't take the dream literally. Try to take different perspectives when trying to discover the meaning of the dream. This dream is covering a serious fear you have concerning your daughter. So firstly, you should calm down and try to look at the dream objectively. Pick out the bits you remember and examine them. Any noticeable colours, the mood of the dream, feelings, etc. Often, with recurring dreams, there is always something different about them each time you dream them, and it is often within these differences that a lot of the meaning of the dream can be found.
