In dreams everything is indirect; it's not about real death nor about the real person. The person will represent his character qualities or your relationship with him, and death represents change, or end of something.
Depending on who he is I would guess that your friendships are coming to an end OR that you are no longer trying to be like that person. He could represent a standard you no longer hold for yourself. Hope that sheds light.

It means nothing in terms of signs to real life, but it just may show that your subconsciouss is trying to tell you something about a friend, maybe that you should cherish all the time you have with them because you do not know when their time will be up. Just a guess but that sorta thing.
