      Recurring dream as a child

This is probably something that is not posted here often, but I am posting here to better understand a recurring dream I had as a child. I was probably 5 or 6 years old when I had this dream .. I am 28 now so you can imagine that my recollection of my life around the time I had this dream is not very good. However, the dream is very clear after all these years and I was hoping someone could help me shed some light on it.

I probably had this dream 10 times. I was standing at the end of a cul-de-sac neighboorhood with single family homes and people where outside, acting normal. At the end of the cul-de-sac was an open coffin just sitting there. The coffin reminded me a space ship for some reason.. I can't say that it WAS a space ship but it did not look like a normal coffin. I looked down into the coffin and I was looking at my own corpse. I had the dream when I was 5 or 6 as I mentioned earlier and my corpse was that age, as well as my alive self in the dream. There was also a man standing next to me looking at my dead body but I did not recognize him by name in the dream, although I would assume he was familiar to me because I was not scared. I also did not get scared by seeing my dead body.... I was very relaxed even though I knew it was me in the coffin.

Anyone have any way to help me understand this? Thanks...

I'm wondering if you felt disconnected with yourself because of a family crisis? That would be a defense mechanism to keep from feeling the pain of an emotional event that we feel we can't handle. Think back to that age and see if you remember anything unusual that didn't seem "right” Once you figure out what it was you can try and resolve it and the dreams will stop.
Keep in mind death usually represents the end of a relationship, any type of drastic change like moving, or changing schools.

Cul-de-sac. End of road. End of journey. Could you be dreaming of the existential substance of death at that age? I don't see why not. Or it could be that a part of you has died - perhaps the little child part that is becoming aware of growing up and being individual. If you are male, the man could represent the outcome of growing up. If you're female or indeed male he could represent authority. Meanings are always personal, however, so my suggestions are just that.

I used to have a recurring dream about the devil and hell as a child.
