Thumbs down Cant get it out of my head.....NEED HELP

This dream is hard to explain if you have never been to the places that I talk about.

Me, my husband (Jody) and my son (Dalton) were asleep in the den at my grandfathers house(which would be my dads father and both are deceased). (From the den there is a door outside and you can see an uphill field filled with apple trees). I see a man (skinny face...his bones are VERY prominant) long dirty blonde hair not curly but very wavy with tangles) coming down the hill. I wake my husband. The next thing I know he shoots my husband (doesnt kill him just shoots him). I cant scream (of course) so I go get my papaws pistol and shoot the man. I shake my papaw awake and he shoots the man with a rifle. Then my mom appears in the picture. The man starts to tell us that he killed someone on my mothers side of the family and thats why he came to kill me and my family. Then my husband wakes me up because I am crying and screaming "Dont kill me I have to take care of my baby".

The odd thing about this dream is my Great grandfather (on my mothers side) was stabbed and killed because they mistook him for someone else.

If ANYONE can give me some insite on this dream I would REALLY appreciate it because there has to be a reason that I cant get this dream out of my head.

Thanks to all who can help
I have included all info that I think will help
If anymore info is needed just ask

      Bren

If it's reoccuring, take advantage of it, and become lucid. I don't think there's any meaning to it though, just a random nightmare that keeps coming.

I would like to add that I am not one of the lucky people who is able to remember my dreams. I VERY rarely remember them...even when I do it is usually for only a moment then I fall back asleep...any advice on how I can remember them once I wake up again?

Or any idea why this one dream may be on my mind for going on 3 days now?

What Marvo said--use it to get lucid and then change it and maybe it will go away.

I don't know what it means; you have to interpret in context. Maybe you are worried about something going on in your family?

Damn you and your pink girlish font!! :p

Anyway, yeah i'm sortof like that too, i only remember the vivid dreams in my life and i always feel they mean something. This seems to be a manifestation of what you visualize your great grandfather's death was like, even if it was a gun instead of a knife, the mind jumbles up a lot of stuff. It generally replaces faces and perspectives to not fit those of a traumatic event because if it were simply to reenact the event, it would be too much for your conscious mind to bear and you would wake up. I'm not too good at analyzing dreams, but i think that this might be a definite possibility, or at least in the ball park of what's going on... or i could be completely off, who knows :p
Oh... don't worry about that... that's supposed to happen

There are several themes in your dream that are very symbolic. You sometimes have to just search for “dream interpretations.“ A couple I noticed could be
…To dream that you are being attacked by someone, signifies questions on your character and the need for you to defend yourself. You are feeling stressed, vulnerable and helpless. You may also be faced with difficult changed in your waking life.
To see a gun in your dream , symbolizes aggression, anger, and potential danger. You may be dealing with issues of passiveness/aggressiveness and authority/dependence.
To dream that you shoot someone with a gun, denotes your aggressive feelings and hidden anger toward that particular person.
To dream that someone is shooting you with a gun, suggests that you are experiencing some confrontation in your waking life. You may feel victimized in some situation.
But there could be other symbols as well that only you may be able to identify.
What Marvo means is that you could use this reoccurring nightmare to become lucid and face your attacker and question them or anyone else in the dream to find the meaning without fear of being harmed. Most likely this dream is your subconscious dealing with a problem in your waking like, a reflection of waking life using symbols that are familiar to you, if you will. But check the Tutorials for ways to increase your dream recall.
