Don't wake up or something bad will happen.

      Male
      USA, T.X.
      16 yrs

I have often had dreams where a force tells me that I may not wake up or bad things will happen, or that I will just not wake up period.

When I was very young actually, like 2 or 3 years old here is a dream.

I walk into a black area, the only object in the room is a bed with my mother laying on it. (keep in mind at two years old or so that is probly the only person you care about, or whoever else it is that you considered to be your caretaker) I crawl on the bed and move her shoulder. She rolls over and it isn't really my mother, it was a skull that was wearing her hair. Her hair then proceeds to turn into fire, and the skull rises of the bed. A door then opens, and light shines through the crack of the door. Through this door vial ghosts appeared in various disturbing forms. The skull then indulges himself in laughing at me, and telling me "I will never wake up." At that point I woke myself up. Lol I was so frightened I was like wake the hell up...or whatever a child might say f he wanted to curse.

Another dream I've had was one where I was in yet another black area. Only now there were thousands of GIANT skulls. The lined up about in a perfect circular row all about me. like....a whole bunch of rings layed on top of eachother with me in the center of them. I was inside of a cylander layering of giant skulls, they were each dressed in different makeup and costumes...the only one I can recall really though was the one dressed as an indian, since he was the one who spoke. To me he said, "don't wake up or your father will die!" At which point I actively tried to stay asleep, to no avail however, as I woke up laying in bed, hoping if I kept my eyes closed nothign would happen to him. Again I was young when this happened.

I also have very rare occaisons where I wake up in the middle of the night standing on the corner of my bed screaming my head off, and sometimes I have "false awakening" dreams where I think i've just woke up and I'm lieing in bed unable to speak, I try to scream out but it comes out as a choked whisper. At least I think the choked whispers are dreams. I'm also told if you approach me when i'm asleep I get really scared, and extremely violant if they touch me while I'm sleeping. As far as I'm aware nothing has ever happened to me such that I would be afraid of being asleep...so...

I attribute this to mere night terrors, probably common enough. But since there is an area to post a thread, I figure what the heck why not.

It's my belief that very young children's nightmares are usually down to some trauma(s) in a past life or lives.

I know a lot of people in the western world find reincarnation unbeleivable - I did myself until I had an experience of glimpsing something while half asleep that I felt sure was a past life (the same way you just know things in dreams), and which provided so many answers about why I'm the way I am. I just thought - yeah, if that happened to me it explains everything about how I see the world and what problems I have, and I was just convinced I'd made a connection.

If you think about history though much of it is just a story of violence, injustice and cruelty - so if we were all there then nightmares make sense. Mostly children grow out of them - perhaps as the memory of past lives fades. But teenage years often bring fears to the surface, too.

It sounds like good news if you're able to take control of your dreams. Hope that makes a difference and breaks the pattern.
