      Hola there,

Personally I believe everything in our dreams can have meaning. Although whether that is the purpose of our dreams, or whether it is simply a side effect of the way the dreaming process works, I leave open.

That said, while everything in our dreams can have meaning, I also believe this meaning is usually very subjective. Dreaming of waves might mean something totally different to you then it does to me, just like in waking life, the idea of going to a football match might cause a totally different reaction from you then it does to me.

To illustrate, let me give some extreme examples. Suppose that you are a single parent, who recently lost his child to the sea. Your son drowned in a really huge wave that just took him right under.

Now imagine that you're a world class top surfer, and you've recently won the gold medal in one of the most important tournaments on the globe.

Your dream would likely have completely different meanings for those two people.

So with that in mind, the person to ask about the meaning of your dreams,... is you. There's many techniques and suggestions that you can find that will help you interpret your own dreams. Try a search on these boards, or on the net in general. I'm sure you'll come across some good ones that'll work for you!

      Happy hunting!

      Just my 2 dreamcents,

I had one almost exactly liek that last summer. I was escaping an evil island that was self destructing (like laputa, if you've seen it) and it produced a massive tidal wave which I jsut outran on foot. It was completely exhillirating. Didn't you feel totally awesome after you outran it?

To me dreams symbolise our very thought processes. They use mataophors instead of words and together they form whole ideas and emotional feelings. They show us how our mids store conceptual info.

A huge wave then could symbolise an enourmous and unstoppable force. Some changes in your life that may sweep away life as we know it - such as a birth or death.

So if there is something that you fear may haoppen that is equally as unstoppable as aa huge wave then maybe its linked to that

      ------------------
Many dreams seem so strange that we simply cannot link them with reality. But if we understood the way that the mind works we may be able to make some sense. Occasionally though a dream will come up with symbols that make total sense in terms of our real lives. They may feature people who featured in our thinking the day before. They may feature places where events took place. So we know through these connections that we can safely try to understand the dream. It will be linked to our thoughts about the places and people who appear in the dreams. Or at least we can assume thats the case. If we can make such connections its usually easy to solve the dream. Dreams are about ideas. See what new feelings and conclusions are coming out of your mind. Its likely that if you correctly interpret the dream it will link to these new feelings as they emerge from your mind.

giant waves have the power to crash down on us and sweep us away. they are related to a sudden disturbance in the psyche.
the car represents a part of ur life journey. to narrowly escape the wave can refer to ur need to deflect a threat that could come crashing down on ur life journey.

take some time to think about what could have disturbed ur subconscious mind so much. when the threat is identified then is the time to take necessary action.

In my experience, waves and water are a symbol of life. Obviously it changes person to person, but this is my experience (by proxy):

A friend of mine had a dream where gigantic waves were engulfing everything around her. She turned to her boyfriend for help, but he refused.

Just on a hunch, I told her to take a pregnancy test. She did, and it turned out positive.

That's pretty much why waves for me symbolize life or new life, or change.

ur absolutely right fonti. water is one of the major life symbols, but in a dream's positive context.
given the dream involves being chased by an enormous wave and justlaxin just escaping ive interpreted the dream in a negative context.
it is all up to justlaxin and how the dream made him feel. were u scared or excited? the way our dreams make us feel is generally one of the keys factors in interpreting them.
