overcrowded fish tank with vivid colors?

Hi. I have a 5 gallon fish tank with 3 fish, one which is currently pregnant and about to give birth any day. I had a dream that she gave birth, but to like a hundred little fish. Also, there were all these other adult fish in the tank as well. There were so many fish in the tank, there was hardly any room for even one or two more. All the fish were swimming really fast around and around the tank, very in sync, so amazingly, none were bumping into each other.

What struck me at first was the beauty of it all. The tank was lit up and the fish were amazing, vivid colors: red, yellow, blue, etc. However, my next thought was that there was no way all those fish could survive in that small tank. So the dream ended with me being concerned for their livelihood!

What's interesting is this is like the third dream I've had in the last year involving very bright, colorful fish? Also, I rarely, if ever, dream in color, except for these fish and fish-related dreams. For example, I had a dream a few months ago where I was looking in a big white bucket that had fish gravel on the bottom, and the gravel was the most amazing blue color. Weird.

      Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

FYI - I am a 37-year-old female, not married (boyfriend), no kids.

maybe your stressing that the fish might give too many fish.. maybe stressing about not being able to feed them all.

well dreams may be remarkably literal. In this case it may simply show that you are wondering how many babies the fish will have and if there will be any problems with the size of tank.

It may be a metaphor for something elese but this is sure to be something that may concern you. I think that we often forget about pets and taht actually there is a part of us that keeps reminding us. That they are living beings and that we control their lives and habitation. That we must look after them properly

      ------------------------
A dream will often feature some clue as to the subject of the dream. Look for them. The people in the dream may link to some place or situation. The dream could be about some thought forming in your mind involving that. So a dream about work may simply link to some thought about work. Write down some quotes that capture your feelings at work. For instance - "I do not think John likes the me anymore since I have become more important in the company than him even though he has been here longer". Or "I think my ideas at work have been rejected because of personal reasons". Its such concepts that are the source of our dreams.

      not concernced about fish

Hi. Really appreciate the replies, but should add that I am not concerned at all about the fish in "waking" life. I've had fish before in this tank who had babies. There is plenty of room for the babies and I have plenty of food to feed them. I actually bought her pregnant and planned well for it.

Actually, after reading several dream sites, all seem to say that fish and water are related to emotions. So all of a sudden, it hit me like a ton of bricks - the night before this dream, I had a fight with my boyfriend about me not feeling safe opening up to him emotionally, and that I had all these emotions and feelings inside me that I was bottling up and keeping inside, and that they were overflowing and about to literally spill out because I had no more room to stuff them inside (I actually said these words)!! I also said it was not healthy for me to do so (hence the feeling that I was concerned for the fish's livelihood - I guess the concern was actually for me).

I also told my boyfriend that I was "proud" of these feelings and wanted to share them with someone because that's what life is all about (likely the reason why my first feeling in the dream was the "beauty of it all." I am not ashamed of my feelings and emotions and think they are a wonderful thing!).

It now seems so obvious to me!!!! I guess just really thinking about it opened up my eyes!

Well having heard what you say I completely agree with your interpretation. You never can rule out a literal interpretation of any symbol but if you bought the fish pregnant and have planned well before and its no big deal then in that case its most unlikely that the dream is something to do with that.

Pregnancy is often associated with new and fresh feelings. So the pregnant fish probably symbolises the new and fresh feel to the relationship that you have with your boyfriend.

I often associate aquariums with feelings... new urges or life within the subconsious ind as it is growing and developing in new ways. In whys that we are openly looking at(hence the aquarium). I even link aquariums to dream interpretation. As we study our emotions and subconscious.

Foreign languages seem abstract and impossible to understand at first. The same is true with the language of dreams. Many dreams just record your emotions. A dream in which you felt confused simply records the feelings form yesterday when you felt confused. Try to spot connections to something that happened yesterday.
