Have played MGS for half a year, have never had a dream like this before...

...and it's making me a little nervous.

      PERSONAL INFORMATION

I'm 18, female, type INFP, just graduated from high school last week. Avid gamer, anime fan, artist, writer, and musician. Not very strong physically, slow runner, would rather hide than fight in most cases. Agnostic, but still forced to go to church by parents. Currently questioning, potentially bi or bi-curious.

I've been playing the Metal Gear Solid games for half a year now, but whenever I have dreams related to the series, they're never like this one. Especially since my tactics in the game almost always make use of the tranquilizer gun.

      THE DREAM

I'm sneaking through a complex, and I accidentally alert one of the guards. (Exclamation mark, noise, and everything.) This, of course, sends a whole bunch of other guards chasing after me. They're all wearing uniforms from the Big Shell incident in MGS2, though some wear the light ones of regular Gurlukovich soldiers, and others wear the darker ones that the guards in the core had.

Anyway, I realize I can't outrun them, so I go through my weapons menu (Yes, I had little menus that randomly appeared in the left and right of my field of vision... just like when you press L2 or R2) and select an AK.

I manage to take down a fair number of the guards while we're all running around in a circle in an area that reminds me of the lot we used for playing football in PE back in my old school (the one I attended from kindergarten up through junior year), complete with patches of brown grass, chain-link fence, and bus. At some point, the rest of them must have run away.

As I continue to run, I notice that one of the guards I dropped is still alive and appears to be in pain. I realize that I'm a horrible aim, and that I'd given that one a stomach wound. (From watching Firefly and reading fanfics, I've learned that those are very bad.) He begs me to finish him off, so I remove his mask. The guy couldn't have been much older than me... but I go through my weapons menu again and equip a handgun, put it to his head, and try to look away as I pull the trigger...

...and nothing happens. Either it jammed or it wasn't loaded in the first place, but I take it as a sign of something. So I pick the guard up and half-carry, half-drag him to a fancy lakeside hotel room where there's a medic waiting who manages to save him. Only then do I find out -- to immense shock -- that the guard himself was also a medic.

Throughout most of this dream, I'm either panicked, frightened, shocked, or horrified, and I felt some strange sort of pity for the one guard, and a small amound of relief when I found he was going to be okay, though that was offset by the guilt that I'd done something like that to someone like him.

      MY THOUGHTS POST-DREAM

This dream unnerves me terribly. Even in my other Metal Gear-based dreams, I have never ever killed or almost-killed someone...

Well I can't say I know very much about dream analysis but I would say that your concern over his pain was a good sign, that you can show remorse for mistakes such as that.

You say you've never killed anyone before in your MG based dreams- how?!

Well... it's always just been random things like meeting Snake, getting outfitted with a Sneaking Suit, or (once, oddly enough) finding myself in a somewhat intimate situation with Sniper Wolf. There generally hadn't been any enemies before.

Ah, I've had video game related dreams that have been nothing but destruction. They're rather fun.

Out of curiosity, how did you feel when you actually shot him, like at the very moment?

Panicky, and sort of in that dizzy, heart-pounding state of "There are so many of them! How am I going to make it out of this?!" I don't think I really thought much about the individual guards as I was shooting.
