      My Dream

I had a really strange dream the other night. And what's even stranger, I remember it with great detail, I usually don't remember dreams very well, if at all.

I walked through the shopping area of a town that I seemed to know as my own, as if I lived there, though I'd never actually seen any of it, now that I think of it. But I seemed to know the way. I was on my way to the beach. I've no idea why. But I was. I walked through the main streets, everything downhill. Then I saw a friend of mine in a book/office store. A friend of mine in real life. I walked in. He was buying his things for school. He was worried, he was supposed to be at the beach in 15 minutes (I don't know why he needed to be there either) but had to buy his things first and couldn't find some of it. No idea why, it was all in plain sight, but I helped him find the things he needed to buy. I clearly remember a '2003 section' for some reason, with older items, at a lower price. I found some of the needed things there.

But before we were done finding everything, a girl from my class walked in with a male friend. The girl didn't say anything, but the guy started picking a fight. I don't know why, I'd never seen him before. They suddenly left before it got very physical. We went back to shopping, bought the things and walked out.

There was the same girl again, this time with a female friend of hers (and mine, the girl herself isn't), but they didn't seem to see me and disappeared into a random shop. My friend and I took a right, where suddenly the path down to the beach, through the dunes, started. Right in the middle of the path lay a boat. I've no idea how it might've got there, beyond the path still lay a stretch of beach which it would have had to cross. And it wasn't a regular boat, as we have in reality, it was a bit fantastic, something you would see in fantasy games. Though not extremely alien. And it was partially in flames.

A man crawled out, he was in uniform, and for some reason he made the impression to be of high rank, though I can't remember what he or his uniform looked liked. He had a rifle and it was aimed towards us. I moved to the right, climbing up the dune. Something was wrong with the dune, too. It wasn't like a natural dune, it seemed man-made, perfectly level, straight sides, sharp edges, made of wet sand, like a sand castle. Even stranger, it didn't seem made of sand, I walked over it without leaving any marks, withous sinking any. It seemed like stone or metal. And as I got the the edge of the dune and overlooked the beach, I could see dozens more of those ships landing or landed at the beach. It looked like an invasion. D-day.

The armed guy from the first boat I encountered was after me. It was dark suddenly, day had become night instantly. I don't know if this is a gap in my memory of the dream or that it is just how the dream happened. The guy came after me with his rifle, I slid down the dune, onto the beach, he followed, I climbed all over the dunes, ran, climbed some more and he chased me everywhere. That's where the dream, or at least my memory of it, ends.

Well, usually boats and stores are all positive signs, but the problem is that everything in your dream seems to indicate that there is a problem.

Going downhill may indicate that you have become complacent in some way. Instead of fighting your way uphill, you are taking the easy way out, by going downhill. Going downhill is kind of like falling from grace.

Book stores and offices both are places where books and documents are written, organized, and stored. I'm not sure, something you need may be 'stored' in the store. The fact that your friend is unable to find specific supplies may indicate that some part of you is lost. The lost trait may be something you need to go uphill. The inability to find this trait may explain why you are compelled to go downhill.

In the dream you see the supplies in the 2003 section. It is possible that he was looking for the 2004 supplies; not the 2003 supplies. The fact that you didn't look for the 2004 supplies may be another indication that you are taking the easy way out in life. Sometimes we must make an effort to search for that which is ahead of us, not that which is behind us. The 2003 supplies were good, but they do not have as much value as the 2004 supplies. You may be letting go of or losing a promising future and settling for what you have now.

In the part of the dream where the girl and the guy tried to fight you, I noticed you didn't make an effort to fight back. One interpretation is that you avoid conflict, but of course they did leave before it got physical so that doesn't completely make sense. Another possibility is that they are trying to tell you something, but you are unable to understand the message that they are sending.

I often have similar dreams where I get into fights. I used to think the people who started the conflict were just bad, but as it turned out, these people were actually trying to send me a message. It is possible that you are angry with yourself for some reason? Maybe you are angry with yourself because you aren't doing something. It is also possible that the girl was trying to warn you of the approaching conflict or she is a smaller symptom of the larger conflict brewing within you. When you didn't understand the girl simply withdrew. You seem to have the same problem at the beach, except in that part of the dream the attackers didn't seem as forgiving. You may not be consciously angry or feel any guilt. Your unconscious is trying to show you that part of yourself that you are not conscious unaware of.

Your friend is that part of you who is patient with you. The girl and your female friend may have ignored you because they do not wish to get angry again. Truthfully I'm not completely sure about this part either.

Eventually, you come to the boat on the path. You said the boat seemed fantastical. Is it possible that the boat was a flying boat? If it was, the fact that it was on the ground may indicate that some part of you has falling from grace. Another possibility is that the fire in the dream has evaporated the body of water the boat had been in.

In my own dreams, when I became complacent, the element of fire which was imbue within all of creation (in my dreams) began to leak out of things. This fire was supposed to hold things together and help the dream world function properly. The fire in your dream began to leak out because that order which contains the fire within the boat had been lost. This fire may also be a sign of the chaos in your dreams.

This idea is kind of like the nuclear energy found within subatomic particles. Nuclear energy holds particles together. It takes a higher order to hold these particles together. When this higher order is disrupted the nuclear energy leaks out destroying everything around it.

Back to the bookstore/office, offices are designed to organize information in files. Bookstores are kind of like libraries in that books are cataloged and organized. The overall store seems to symbolize order.

In the dream your friend couldn't find the supplies he was looking for. It may be because a form of chaos has begun to create disorder in your life. In my own experience, such disorder came from complacency. In order to have order you need to work and work is a result of effort. You were going downhill because at some point in your life you stopped making an effort and now this lack of effort is catching up to you. The chaos is consuming the order and as a result of this lack of order (as in law & order) a conflict is ensuing.

The unusual composition of the sand may indicate the that was in structure within your life. Like a sand castle, some one took the natural sand and molded to give it a specific form. This may be another symbol representing order in your dream. The fact that you were unable to leave an impression on the sand may be showing that you are a gentle person who doesn't disturb order.

It seems that there is some conflict within you that is brewing. While the girl was willing to let it go, there may be other aspects of your mind that isn't as merciful. Maybe you are angry with yourself for not making an effort in some area of you life. This lack of effort is creating chaos within your mind.

I don't mean to be insulting in anyway. It is possible that I am wrong, but I'm pretty sure I'm right. Of course, this is only one interpretation. Truthfully, I have seen similar images in my own dreams. I hope this helps you in someway.

Thanks, Dreamcaster, it did help. I think your interpretation may be right. Just want to clear some things up. About the almost-fight. It was actually only the guy that started to pick a fight. The girl didn't do anything, or at least I can't remember. And though I didn't fight back, I didn't avoid him either. It was actually starting to become physical until he for some reason backed off. I don't know why, it didn't seem like he was scared of me. They just suddenly walked off.

Anyway, what you said about being complacent, I think you might be right, but slightly different. The last school year I didn't do too well, for reason I won't bother you with, and though I didn't get into the red zone, I know very well that things need to improve, as soon as possible. And now school is starting soon, and I'm fairly anxious about it. Afraid I won't be able to do my best (I wasn't not just being lazy). I think that might be what the dream was about. Please let me know what you think. Thanks.
