      Interesting dream I had

First off, I'd like to say a little bit about myself (anything that might be relevant to the dream I'll try to say.) I'm a high school student (going to be graduating in less than a year's time) currently on summer holidays. I'm aspiring to become a physicist and am deeply amazed by the strange and eerie ways in which our universe works. A few nights ago I had a dream; one of those dreams that seems to affect you more so than most other dreams.

The setting was mostly in what appeared to be a boreal forest up north. I remember being with a group of my friends from school. It might have been that we were camping out there. Unfortunately, I can't remember the exact sequence of the events that took place, but I'll try to list as many scenes as I can.

      1) Perhaps the most powerful "visual" memory I have is that of a lake at dusk. The water was quite dark (almost black) but clear and calm. It was reflecting some of the coniferous trees and hills on the other side. There were rocks sticking out nearer to the shore as well. In the lake I sensed a sort of mysteriousness. The reason why I posted about the mysterious and spooky nature of the universe is that I felt the same inner emotions while standing by the lake as I do when I read about the spookiness of the quantum realm or the vastness of the universe. It's quite a difficult feeling to describe, but anyone else who holds the same interests as I do may be able to understand what I'm talking about. If I remember correctly, I was alone while I was standing by this lake and felt a deep inner peace.

      2) Now for the most powerful emotional part of my dream. With some of my friends, I remember leading them (as if to show them something) to somewhere near the lake. While I was walking towards the place I was to show them, the trees suddenly ripped apart violently and moved off to the side, opening up a clear path where there were once trees. Through the cleared path there was a clearing, and a very large and unbelievably bright light was hovering over the clearing. This light exuded immense power. I had the feeling that the light was benevolent as opposed to evil, but I don't remember anything else of the scene; only the blinding light that came over me and flooded my senses. The feeling I experienced was very very strong, but hard to describe. It was almost like I was "struck down" and experienced a sort of ego loss.

      3) I remember cycling in the dark, including through some sort of short tunnel. I remember speeding up ahead of the friends I was with and experiencing a sense of exhileration as I sped along. I then slowed down to nearly a halt as I waited for my friends to catch up.

      4) I remember a small sort of wooden building and that there were some conversations that took place there, but not much else of it.

      5) There was one scene that I felt was not in the same setting. This one took place in my grandfather's house, which is in a small town close to the U.S. border (I live in Canada). I remember being at my grandpa's house and seeing what originally looked like a black widow spider outside by the window. I was once again with my friends, and they saw the spider as well. On closer inspection, I noticed that instead of the trademark red hourglass on the spider, there were two big red circles. In this spider I sensed the presence of my grandmother, who died very recently. I remember going outside to take a look at the spider, but I can't remember whether I saw it or not.

Well, that's all I can remember. Interpret away!

Very interesting dream, I must say!
First picture of the dram you are describing gives a sense of an inner universe and maybe you can recognize some aspects of yourselves in it, by my experience dreams always speak about ourselves, different aspects of ourselves and give quite a good picture about thoughts, emotions and periods in our lives we are going through at the moment.
You are saying there is dusk and you are by the lake. What does lake mean to you? It could mean, that you are closing one chapter of your life(dusk- the day is ending) and that you are in quite a good touch with the deep waters of your own unconcessnes. The water is clear and calm, and your emotion when associatinng the dream is deep inner peace. It seems that the day- period of your life(earlier youth) is ending naturally and with no unfinished chapter of this period of your life. You are saying, you are finishing the school and become a psychian. So you do now, what you want in your life and it could be connected with the stones, leading into the lake-like a path, strong and firm, like concius decision.
Still, there is this mystery about the peacful like...maybe a part of you is wondering, what the life you are begining in your new period will be, what kind of surprises and secrets does it hold for you and that there is stil lot to know about yourself(mystirious lake). Anyhow, you seem to be prepeared, maybe dreams are sending you a message form your unconciouss, that you can be at peace with yourself, the lake is mysterious, but calm and your intuition knows for the right way.
      2) The second dream picture seems to be a bit more enigmatic. You say you are leading a group of your friends through the forest. Let us say, that friends also represent different aspects of yourselves in concious life; the one who knows the way, the one who leads and holds the group together is you...your self of basic identity, your Me. Myabe this Me doesn't see everything, as our Ego (Me) has some blind spots. Suddenly, there is kind of a violent storm or something, kind of a "devine force"(you could compare this scene with the biblical story of exodus of Jews from Egypt, when the Red see opened before them and let them get through under the leadership of Moses- this part seems to be in a metaphorical way rooted in collective unconcissnes, as parallel is pretty strong- what is your attitude toward the religion?), which opens the path and the bright lightshines through. I have had a similar dream months ago about this light...light is very often interpreted in pretty much the similar way..the light from the real Self (not ego's Me, which seems to be in charge in the first part of this picture). So, if we say, this is the ray of light from Self(God within..) it can mean, that even if your ego ssems to know the way, finnaley is the deepeer Self the one, which opens the way and sends the light to see things in their holistic form. Very interesting and powerful part of the dream, with a bit of a warning to ego, which must wait for the right moment in time and the place, where the real Self helps.
      3) It seems, that the third picture is telling a bit of the same story as the second. You are cycling throug the tunnel...in the tunnel you see only the way ahead, you can not see the things beside and behind and above you. The look through the tunnel is one-way look and yourney. You are speeding so fast, that your freinds(other -overlooked parts of you?) are staying behind. You just want to come as soon as possible...what about others(real others, family, friends, ...in real life!). Maybe this is kind of an early warning, that you are sometimes and in some relationships to people or things ahead of yourself...teh picture ends, as it probably should(you are a good listener to your inner voice)...you halt and stop and wait for the others. You are still young and probably want to experience life in full as soon as possible..take your time and wait for the ray of light from the previous picture..
      4) The dream from the deeper layers of your individuality now goes to your social and family role and identity

      5) It seems this picture would need some additional information about your familiy and you..especially the life story of your grandfather and grandmother, as they play a cruicial role here...and the symbol of spider, what does it mean to you..what is spider like..are you afraid of him, what do you associate on spider?
However, this is part of the dream which seems to have amessage about your family relations and is rooted in a so called familiar subconcessnes. Grabdfather and Grandmother are very powerfull archetypes..

I hope, it will help you in your understanding of your dreams and how it works...for me it is fascinating, every dream...how smart parts of us that we don't know are...

      Have fun

      Thanks for the help.

I wasn't at all afraid of the spider. I was more curious than anything and wanted to get a better look at it.

      Hi Electron,

You mention that your dream took place a few nights ago. Thats important. Actually most dreams will capture emotions that are important to us. They capture some key emotion from the day before. Its part of how the brain works. We process through info from the day before. It gets transferred from short term to long term memory.

Often dreams link to current moods. It features you leading your friends. Then later there appears to be a loss of ego. One moment we have plenty of energy towards some goal. We feel confidence and then something small happens and that energy and confidence dissapates. Maybe your dream captured a moment like this.
