Thread: A few questions on interpretation itself

I'm not sure, but I think this would be the best forum for this question.

What are these typical dream symbols and how exactly do we know what they mean? I've heard stuff like teeth falling out means weakness and such...but what evidence exists to support these connections?

Is it possible that only the most blatant dream signs (such as overtaking a bully) carry any real meaning? Or maybe it's different for everyone?

I think if anything these meanings are subjective, I mean you have to wonder where they came from, they were most likely created by assumption, I have not much doubt over that.
I don't believe dreams mean anything, it's just random thoughts that leads to more random thoughts which leads to random dreams but that could just be me.

Part of what makes me think they are meaningless in general is how much control we exhibit over them when we LD. It's irrefutable that we can control our dreams; some of us here do it almost all the time! So, if we can modify what's happening, is a message being delivered in the first place?

Scientists don't exactly know why we dream, but some have suggested it occurs while our brains sort out shit that's headed into the memory bank.
