Can you relate this to a real event?

In my dream, it was somwehere between 1300 A.D. and maybe 1600 A.D. It was in a big building made of tan stones, it looked and felt sort of like a church, but I could tell it was not a church. I remember alot of light. Maybe stained glass. It was packed with people, poor or diseased or someting. But they were all eating or sleeping, dirty, and they were all still, but not dead, just barely moving. I felt like we were locked in there. Here is a pic:

By far, Mothra (in all of it's forms) is the worst kaiju of all time.

It could be one of several inquisitorial periods, where "heretics" were questined under torture or imprisoned and often forgotten about. Spanish Inquisition woul be most memorable, but there were many such occurences, both under orders from the church and orchestrated by corrupt individuals. That might also explain your "like a church, but not a church" feeling.

The Spanish Inquisition, eh? (Monty Python)

But the reason I ask is because it was very moving, very real, I think it was not a dream, maybe a flashback to an older life or somthing.

It felt like they were protecting us, or telling us that we were being protected, but I felt far from safe. It felt European, too.

I was seriosly fighting an impulse to say "nobody ever expects the french, roman, or other non-spanish inquisitions"

But yeah, that really sounds like a number of depictions of inquisitorial custodians (keeing the suspected heretics in custody, not janitorial staff) that I've read about, the whole "we're holy, so we won't hurt you unless your an evil little spawn of hell who deserves to die, which I'm sure you aren't... so you're safe unless you're lying to us and god and jesus' stgmata."

No LDs last night, but the spanish inquisition is sounding better and better.
This building looks damn similar to my memories, but there were no people other than pesants. Just the colour of the stones and the the way the windows look.
