Hi all, I'm new to the forum. I had a very vivid dream last night that I just need to share. Feels good to type out the details. Cathartic, even.
"me" details: 31 / male / married / work in publishing
Here are the dream details:
=====
I was a child again, playing with a toy. Some kind of military vehicle that launched missiles. The setting was a house that I've never seen before or been in. The windows were open, and a breeze was blowing the curtains gently.
All of a sudden, the toy began moving autonomously. It went into a "launch sequence" not unlike what you might expect to see in a movie. Then the two missiles were ejected. It was just a toy, so the two small plastic missiles were just shot upward (by a spring-loaded mechanism), hit the ceiling, and then fell to the floor. I felt a deep sense of foreboding.
Then I was suddenly an adult (my current age, in fact). I turned on the television to watch the news, and the people on the newscast were calmly discussing a nuclear launch from Russia towards the Unites States. I recall them discussing the impending conflict as if it were some kind of sporting tournament. One of them said, "If the US expects to make the semi-finals, they're going to have to counter-strike with strategic nuclear weapons." They also announced that two, and only two, nuclear weapons were inbound to the US.
I looked out the window and up at the sky. I saw several black helicopters buzzing around, and also a few different flights of air-force jets. I knew then that the conflict was for real.
I then went back to the TV and heard that there was 18 minutes left until the missiles would arrive at their targets. I didn't ever hear what those targets were, though.
I recall thinking, "Okay, this is it. I don't know how, but I'm going to survive." I felt oddly peaceful, but also anxious about what was going to happen.
And then my alarm went off and woke me up.
=====
So there it is. I'll be happy to answer any questions about further details.
Thanks for reading!
