      Need Help with Interpretation

Before I get into my dream, some back story should help interpret.

Years ago, I happened to be at the right place at the right time. It could be fate or just luck on mine and my dog's part. My hubby and I were standing around talking to a friend of ours when he received a call from another mutual friend. He was calling everyone to ask if they could take in this puppy he was planning on rescuing that night. I wasn't told who originally had the dog until he had left town and I could no longer communicate with him. To keep his girlfriend happy, he had locked the puppy in his basement without food or water for 3 weeks. I later realized he had also been abused during the time he had been with them. Hearing about the conditions, I immediately agreed to take him in and we had him that night. The poor puppy was nothing but skin and bones and was clearly afraid of humans. I looked into his eyes and instantly fell in love. I can't have children, but I had this helpless animal that needed to be taken care of. It took a long time and thousands of fights with my hubby, but he is now happy and semi healthy. He has recently developed a tumor on his throat. You wouldn't know it was there if you didn't see it. He acts no different than he did before. I can't afford to take him to the vet to find out if it is cancer, but I'm trying not to worry about it until his behavior changes.

Ok, so now on to my dreams. I've had at least one a week for the past few months. Each one has been different except for the theme...he is in trouble and I save him. The most memorable was last week. I don't live in the best neighborhood and we have people that hop over our fence and cut through our yard for a number of reasons. It's not unusual for cops to look around our yard looking for people who have cut through or anything they might have dropped. In my dream, there was a group of people in my backyard. I let my dog out to chase them away (like we usually do) and he didn't stop chasing them. I ran after them, but by the time I got to the street, the only one around was my dog. Everytime I got close to him he ran and I never caught up with him. In each dream I have, he is in trouble in some way. The only thing I remember about last night's dream is that I was in a pool and I looked over and saw my dog under the water not moving. I swam to him and put him on the side of the pool before getting out of the pool myself and trying to revive him. Before and after that is a complete blank, but everything else is the same, he is in trouble and I rescue him.

I've been thinking it could be because I did rescue him and the worst I could be accused of is spoiling him rotten. On the other hand, it could be that I'll need to rescue him sometime in the near future. Either way, these are very disturbing to me. When I have these dreams, I get up and immediately make sure he is ok. It's only been happening for the past few months, but it's really starting to get to me. Any help is greatly appreciated. I can't talk to my hubby about it, he'll just think I'm nuts. Maybe I am, but I love my dog like he's my son and when the day comes that he'll no longer be with me, it will break my heart.

Dogs are considered as people's best friends. Maybe you have some friend somewhere that you've forgotten about, so your dream is trying to draw your attention to him/her.

Don't worry about your dog, it most likely has nothing to do with it...!

Maybe the dog DOES represent a close friend in your dream.

The running "away" might mean that the friend is in some trouble again and might be too embarrassed to take your help and trouble you.

The pool may represent emotions and an emotional situation.
The sun and moon pass over my shoulders,
I see mountains and rivers all in the palm of my hand.

If you had children, I would relate this to them showing independence. Maybe somebody you know has decided to go down a path they shouldn't, but wants to do it on your own. ( the dog is running away, going down the wrong path; he runs when you come near him, maybe they don't want you to be involved ) the subconscious mind picks up on details that might lead to things like this that you wouldn't know in your conscious mind
