Hi, I'm back. I posted here once before about this crazy dream where a bear asked me to chop its head off. The responses I got that time were awesome , so I thought I'd give this one a shot. This dream isn't nearly that exciting, but I think it's got some good imagery, and since I remembered it (which is fairly rare for me...) and since it doesn't seem to have much "daytime imagery," I suspect that it might be possible to draw some meaning from it. So I'd really appreciate any opinions...

Basically, in this dream I had decided to take on a second job. In my current one, I work as a writer in an urban office setting. In this new one, I had to drive on a gravel road out to a rusty, bluish corrugated tin shed / garage in among a handful of other similar structures out in the middle of nowhere. It reminded me a lot of the area where I grew up, a small town in a very rural setting far away from any major cities.

The place felt very peaceful, calm and familiar to me. In fact I felt like I had had this dream before, so this could be recurring. It was also summertime, in stark contrast to the fact that it's Minnesota winter right now and there are sub-zero temps outside.

When I got to the place, I saw a pick-up truck, which I understood would be necessary for doing this new job, straightforward, work-with-your-hands kind of work, and I also saw Ron. Ron is a middle-aged guy with red hair and a red mustache, kind of walrus-like. I used to work with him in a factory in my hometown before I moved to Minneapolis. He was always a really nice guy, fairly laid back but definitely a hard worker who took pride in his work. My grandpa founded that factory in the 50s, and so my dad is actually Ron's boss. In real life, Ron was my de facto supervisor, since he had much more experience than me, and this dream situation was going to be similar.

Behind the shed, there was a small pond, maybe somewhat crescent-shaped, and behind the pond, there were trees, about 30 feet high. Ron went and took a dip in the pond. After he got back out, I thought "that sounds nice right about now ..." and I dove into the pond, too. I was swimming under the water and I realized it was only about six feet deep at the most. I wanted to go deeper. At the deepest point in the middle of the pond, I felt that the water was very cold.

When I got out of the pond, some time must have elapsed, and I realized that it was about 5:00 in the afternoon. I had missed a couple of important meetings for my real job (which really are scheduled for later today). The dream ended as I was thinking up excuses to tell my boss. I hate when that happens.

So that's about it. Again, not too exciting, but it was definitely enough to make me wonder about it. Thanks for any feedback ...
