      Vague allegorical seeming dream

Last night I had this strange dream which came to me swiftly.

This is what I wrote in my dream journal immedietly upon awakening:

A wise man sets out on a highly secretive mission to go out into the desolate desert, to seek knowledge in solitude. The mission is known only by two people: the wise man and by the sorcerer of the village who lives in his tower, and these two men have the ability to keep in correspondance with one another via telapathy.

After having been quite some time in the desolate desert ont he mission, the wise man sends a message to the sorceror that he sees a large dust storm coming towards him. The sorcerer replies that the most notorious whore of the entire village has come out into the desolate desert to approach the wise man.

The wise man then sees the whore appear before him, and soon they are having sex. When the sex is over, the wise man decapitates the whore. Thats the end of it.

I found this dream alarmingly odd because it came to me mostly as if someone was narrating it to me, with no real detailed sights except for some vague imagery. I, myself, was not even present in the narrative. Also, I can't seem to relate this bizarre and brutal narrative to any beliefs I hold. Thus far I am pretty satisfied with just labelling it as raving nonesense, but I am still curious, especially to how other people would interpret it. I recounted it to a friend and he said it is the most intruiging dream he's ever heard. Hopefully, if I can remember, I plan to seek answers in some future lucid dream.

I don't know if this will help but if a really basic allagorical paradigm is applied alot of the symbols make easy sense. First the sorcerer is the intellectual ego who attempts to control the known universe through his logic, hence the tower represents his isolation from the greater universe. The wise man represents the strivings of the inner self to find truth. The whore reprensents lust and weakness. The wise mans ability to bed the whore then kill her represents the ability to quence the lust/weakness in persuit of that which is higher. To me it seems clearly the constant battle between the intellect/ego and the true higher self, the intellect tests the this purer version and the true self overcomes completely.
This is just basic symbol decoding, but how it relates to you is a different matter. But it does seem like a very positive dream.

      Thoughts?

hey thanks for your interpretation! It was very interesting to read...

It makes quite a bit of sense to me, I've been thinking about similar ideas to those lately, about logic, isolation and the relationship with the instinctual urges. I also have a friend who is quite fixated on being as much "the true higher self" as he can.

Btw I love your avatar, i've actually been making a few paintings recently that are variations on that exact tarot card composition
