Dream characters "locking up" on trigger

Often during my non-lucid dreams, I'll be having a conversation with a dream character, and I'll suddenly decide to bring up a particular subject that I will not elaborate on (it's deeply personal). As soon as I introduce the topic, the dream characters around me lock up and stop interacting with me. There is a distinct empty look in their eyes, like they just turned off or something. They remain this way until I do something unrelated to the new subject to get their attention, and then they will talk about my action, but they will not discuss the "problem topic" and react to it only by freezing up. Anybody experience anything similar, or perhaps know what this is all about?

Well I think the answer to your question lies in the fact that the issue is, as you say, deeply personal, so much so that you're not willing to share it here. Since the characters you're dealing with are essentially a product of your subconcious mind, in other words you, this could well indicate that you're not sure how to address the issue yourself while concious, and that perhaps you need some help from someone outside of yourself.

      Just a thought, anyway.

      Good interpretation.

rsw, I would probably guess that you may view this problem as being unattended. You may feel that no one can help you with this problem or that no one wants to, etc. This being represented by the individual's deadpan reaction when you present it. Also, this problem may be something you are deeply afraid of bringing to the attention of anyone else (you didn't even post it on the internet, so I would assume you would be embarrased even more in person considering the anonymity of the internet).

      Am I close...?
