The Future of IdXLog - users please read.

I've just found a site selling 'Alchera', which is much like IdXLog, but has many extra features. I don't like the interface though. But, I say selling.

The full version is $39.50, which is a rip off, and theres a pretty useless 8-dreams-only evaluation copy.

Why am I telling you this? It is my job to give you a similarly advanced dream journal program for free - so don't go shelling out $39.50 just yet.

IdXLog version 1.3 will include full psychoanalysis of dreams, a encyclopedia of dreams (I think I might call it 'Lucipedia') and HTML exporting etc. etc.

It will also eliminate the frustrations of the current versions of IdXLog: double quotes will be allowed, passwords can be changed or removed, advanced searching, and the core structure of the data may be reshuffled to make way for more features.

More when it's finished, about 4 weeks I'd say.

      Bye for now

All those features are there in 1.23 (completed about 4 weeks ago), as I said earlier in the old topic, it's available now, I'll send you it next time on the net at home (where I keep the file), weekend probably.

      IdXLog has a new name!

I have decided to start more or less from scratch on the new version, and therefore the proposed 4 weeks production time is more likely to be 4 months.

But, in that 4 months, you can expect 'Dream Journal' (as it is now imaginatively called) to be a massive improvement on IdXLog, to thepoint of being virtually unrecognisable.

There are going to be too many new features to list, but here are some of the major ones:

A new file format - *.dj. This is necessary because the data strucure will change vastly, with many more features per dream, inc. up to 3 pictures, notes, time of wake, characters present, techniques used etc.

A *.ddy --> *.dj conversion utility.

A fully graphical interface which will be skinnable, nice and colouful with posh fonts 8)

      A customisable data structure

A new view - MetaView. I won't attampt to explain it, but it is good for general navigation

      A customisable dream analysis system

      Graphical display of dream statistics

A proper help file, but also the Lucipaedia which will atempt to be a concise reference on lucid dreaming and dreaming in general

      No more LucidInducer

      Double quote freindly

      HTML publishing

Awesome, we are definately not worthy. You could charge money for this and make a decent profit. Did you say you made this with visual basic. If so maybe you could teach me a bit, because i am into programming.

Still far from completion, the most recent coding I did to Dream Journal was up the dream capacity from 3000 to unlimited (well, theoretically, it won't work when the number of dreams exceeds around 320 trillion trillion trillion, but there is no risk of that, is there? 8) ) Also, it now uses only 5% of the RAM IdXLog did.

Oh, Evanescence, I'm sure there are tutorials on the internet, alas, I am not able to teach you myself, for obvious reasons.
