      --------------------------------------------

First of all: A very happy newyear everybody!!

Second: some short background of myself:
I'm a dutch boy, age 25 at this moment. Just got myself a job, life is going well for me! I've never had (by my knowing) a lucid dream. My girlfriend got my attention for recalling dreams about 6 to 8 weeks ago (I think). This than went back like it used to be in earlier days: I only recalled unpleasant dreams, in which I or close friends and family were dying, or were I lost my girlfriend.

Like 2 or 3 weeks ago, she again got my attention, this time for lucid dreams (and with that again recalling dreams). After some (sometimes heated) discussion, I now think I understand nearly what she's talking about. This made that I also want to try again. Not only to recall (with which I will start to train) but also to experience lucid dreams.

With this in mind I started the new year, and entered 2008.

PS: I'm dutch, English is therefore my second language. I'll type most of it just as a know it. Some words come from http://translate.google.com . Please point me to very bad English, as I might learn on languages as well in that case .

Third: A little explanation for my dreamjournal-writing:
I will write hear mainly for myself, to keep track of my dreams. They could contain explicit material, although I will keep this readable for all ages . I post my dreams here, since I might entertain people with it and to maybe some explaination to what they might mean. Of course also to get tips on how to improve things.

      Dreams
      31 december 2007 --> 1 january 2008 (night)
I can't remember how the dream started, but my recall starts when I enter a luxurious room, it has large windows. Outside is the sun shining. The room is decorated in mainly red shades. I approach a table in the middle of the room, where a man and a woman are talking. These people are real estate traders. They've called me to give me an assignment. They want me to go and collect some debt. Since the person with the debt might protest, they give me a gun and tell me to use it, if the guy doesn't want to pay. They also promise me two large, strong guys (bouncer like guys).
I refuse this assignment, since I'm not on their payroll and don't want to be. They then treathen the same treatment for me, as I also have a debt with them. I give in, and accept the assignment.

The woman then walks to an elevator door in the room and tells me to come along, she will me give a car to go to the address. We get in the elevator and I notice that it has also an exit on the other side of the elevator. When the doors close and we start moving down, I see that the doors in the back didn't close. I mention it, and the woman says she will report it later to the staff. Two floors lower we pass the kitchen on the side of the open doors. The cook's son is wondering en sticks his head inside the elevator.
Suddenly the elevator is much higher than normal, and the kid is about to beheaded because he still has his head inside the elevator, which has now almost past this floor. I shout and try to push the kid back in the kitchen. To achieve this, my arm becomes very long and stretchy (think like 2 to 2,5 metres). I manage to push the kid back in in time.

We arrive 4 floors below our starting point (2 floors below the kitchen) and get out of the elevator. It's a garage below ground-level. There about 4 cars and the 2 bouncers. I get a car appointed to do the job, this is a Peugeot 106... (link for image). The 2 bouncers get also in the car and I start driving out of the garage. I now need to go up 6(!!) floors before I get above ground. Outside it's very cold, and the heating of the car is obviously broken.

Than I wake up, being cold in a cold room... I like the feeling when waking up for saving that child.

      1 january 2008 (train)
(A very short dream just between two stations.)
I walk up to cliff of some sort, the world is completely blurred. It's just some ground, myself and a jacket I hold in my hands.
I come to the edge of the ground, and throw the jacket down. Then I realise I just wanted to throw down the two empty bottles that are in the pockets of the jacket. I want the jacket back and dive face first after the jacket.
While diving down, I wake up without ever seeing the jacket again. Again I feel good when waking up. Diving down gave me a thrill, exitement.

      -------------------------------------------------------------
And now off to some nice sleeping, hopefully recalling dreams tomorrow morning.

I was indeed near panic, but somehow thought of saving the child

For the people still wondering: Yep, that's me.

Like 2 or 3 weeks ago, she again got my attention, this time for lucid dreams (and with that again recalling dreams). After some (sometimes heated) discussion, I now think I understand nearly what she's talking about.
Yeah, it took some time to clear up the misunderstandings about lucidity, dream control and other related stuff

I'm not sure whether I'm going to comment much in his DJ (and he in mine) since we're already sharing most of it offline, but sometimes I just can't refuse to make some funny comments

PS: I'm dutch, English is therefore my second language.

LOL, there are more people here who have some trouble with English words and are trying to learn proper English (right, MB? )

I'm very happy to see you trying to remember dreams. I didn't expect this much result in a few weeks! From remembering 1 scary dream in 2 months, to this detailed recall is quite some improvement.

Oh, and for the rest, I'm totally OK with Tobby hanging around here, now that we share the same ideas about lucid dreaming

      1 january --> 2 january
No recall this night, but since I assumed (and was warned) that lucid dreams would need training, I figured I could best start training already. So I tried to get SP last night.

I lay on my back, completely still, just focussing on my breath. Just when I started to get bored, I couldn't sense my legs anymore. Vaguely the sense in my feet came back, but not in my legs. Then that sense went away again.

Shortly after that I felt like my entire body fell down like 10 centimeters and I started to hear some noise in my head. Best described as when watching static on tv with the volume little higher than avarage. Soon after this I felt like waking up and watched the clock, it took about half an hour in total, from laying still to "waking up".

I figured this should be a first step to SP . And I didn't experience it as annoying. I'll try this again tonight

Great way to start off your journal. It will be fun having you around (now I need to convince my wife to get on here and start posting her dreams).

Have you been trying already? I was sceptical at first when Sara started telling me about all this. Now I want to try for myself

I bug her about it almost daily. She thinks it is interesting but says she doesn't have the time to write all her dreams down (which is mostly true). Oh well, I'll keep working on her!

      2 january --> 3 january (night)
No recall wat soever. I was really tired when I went to bed, and thought of trying SP, but I just fell asleep

      3 january (train)
When I go to work I normally first read a paper in the train and then take a little nap. No difference today, but I decided, why not try to sit completely still and focus on my breath as well? I started doing that and I got to not feeling my body anymore. This time I felt less limbs than last time. I didn't feel my legs and arms, but also my chest was very heavy. Breathing was difficult, because my longs couldn't push my chest up. I still kept focussing on my breating, because I knew things like this could happen.

I had my mp3 player on and was listening to Simon & Garfunkel. Than it happend : I was crawling on hands and knees through the aisle of the train (and I knew I was dreaming). I saw practically nothing, everything was blurred. I crawled for like 2 minutes and than woke up.

I woke up with a jump, so I was standing in front of my seat with my jacket in my hands

Some things that I found remarkable:
      - I saw the whole thing through my own eyes, all my other dreams sofar were like a movie, I was some third person observing it all.
      - I heard Simon & Garfunkel all the time.
      - I heard the train conductor calling a station, but didn't see anything because it was all blurred...
      - All together it lasted 24,5 minutes (first 7 songs from the cd )
      - When I woke up, I felt completely rested (unlike that morning, when I was very tired after waking up)

I'm so happy that I achieved this already!!!! And I still need to work on my recall

YEAH! My boyfriend had a lucid!!!
And even in the TRAIN!! I'm so proud of you

And even faster than I did, my first lucid took me at least a week of trying WBTB, getting back my SP etc. Maybe it helped that you didn't get too much sleep this week. *me jealous: I want a lucid in the train too!*

Tip: make your lucids BLUE that's easier to recognise if you scan quickly through the pages.

Sleeping on the train isn't that strange to me, having a lucid is, I think. I was so sleepy after my short nights sleep.

No recall what soever this night. I feel like I slept rather light, I woke up still very tired.

And sleeping in the train on my way to work was prevented by 2 girls who where discussing their schoolwork pretty loud

Hopefully next night will be better. Then Sara will be with me, so maybe she gives me inspiration

      Hehe Thanks for the reassurance.

On the way back I found out that (at least I think) alcohol is not a good catalyst for me recalling dreams or trying SP (into WILD).
After drinking a few (say somewhere between 5 and 8 ) beers at work, I tried to achieve SP in the train again. I'm again very tired, so I thought I had a chance. No such luck. I tried, and before I was at 20 (counting my breath...) I fell sound asleep and woku up, about 45 minutes later. Not recalling anything between.

A well, the sleep was okay, that's at least something

Has anyone else tried alcohol als a catalyst for anything concerning dreaming?

5-8 beers at work!? If I were a drinker, that is a job I would want (or did you mean 5-8 beers after work )!

I haven't tried alcohol as a catalyst, but most threads around here will generally tell you that it is usually bad for recall (as you discovered). I haven't seen any other creative uses for it in connection with dreaming in my readings on DV (but I can't say that I really looked all that hard either).

yep like raklet says its generally bad for recall, however there is the positive of a REM rebound which you get after the alcohol has left your system and you can sleep normally
