      Monital's Dream Journal

Hey everyone! First post; way to go me!

So I've had frequent lucid dreams for a long time, but recently this weird thing has been happening right after I've achieved lucidity and control, or right when I realize I'm dreaming. Right when it happens I will talk out loud (IRL) in response to someone in my dream and wake myself up. It seems like once I realize I'm dreaming, I think I can just talk in my normal voice, but me talking out loud will inevitably wake me up. Last night was a good example.

I was in my grandma's basement throwing a party with all of my work friends. A bunch of them were there including my ex-girlfriend (who I still work with) and one of my good from high school (who I never worked with). My grandma's basement is split in two halves, one completely finished and one thats not finished that is used for storage. They are connected only by one normal size door. Most of the people were in the finished half listening to music and having drinks. I was in the unfinished half with my work friend Katy playing music. I was on drums and she was playing banjo.

This went on for a while with us switching instruments every once in a while. Then I got off of the drums for a bit and went into the finished half to get a drink. When I got back this girl Brandi (who I don't like) had rearranged all of my drum pieces and cymbals out of order. I got mad and asked her why she did it. She told me it was how they were supposed to be arranged and I would just have to learn. This made me really mad so I stopped the party and told everyone they had to leave. But before they could, not only did they have to clean everything up, but they also had to help me pack everything up so I could move it out of the basement.

Everyone started doing this and as they were helping me I noticed my ex-girlfriend kiss some guy from work. I got mad so I went into another room where I found my old high school friend kissing this girl Ashley from work. I realized that they were dating now which also made me kind of jealous (because shes fricken gorgeous) so I told him, "Ahhh, man! You too!" He said, "Yeah, I saw what happened with Jessica (my-ex), that's not very cool of her to bring that guy to your party." I told him that I'm going to confront her about it.

This next conversation led to lucidity. I approached her and asked her what was going on with this new guy. She told me they were dating now. I then asked her why she would bring him to my party which she knew would make me upset. This was her response "Like its that bad! You've done much worse! Remember that time you tried to get me to rumble with Jessica Simpson!"

I immediately realized I was dreaming because that was too weird of a question, and I said "What are you talking about?" out loud, thus waking myself up.

This is the 5th time this has happened over the past couple of weeks, and I don't know how to fix it other than forcing myself to remain calm when I achieve lucidity. But that might actually be part of the problem, I've gotten so used to lucid dreaming that I react the same way I do in real life including talking in my normal voice instead of just in the dream.

It sucks, but yeah. Sorry, this was actually one of my more boring dreams, and it was very long, but I figure the point of a dream journal is to remember as much as possible. I've got tons of great dreams that I'll post sometime. My favorite of all time being when I went lucid and obtained complete control in a zombie takeover dream. Best... dream... ever...

Edit: After reading some other peoples dream journals I'm going to do a color system so I can systematically show when a dream has gone lucid without having to say "now it has gone lucid".

These are usually the categories that I experience:
      Normal Dream: Blue
      Lucid Dream: Green
      Total Dream Control: Purple

They usually go in that order too, so it should be pretty easy to follow.
