      Rubes' Dream Journals

I've just turned 22 and ever since a few years ago, I realised that if I laid completely still in the same position that I woke up in, I would remember some of my dreams, so this is the technique I currently use. When I remember a dream very vividly and I have time available, I will often take the time to type them out in full, and that is what I will be posting here - open to comments and interpretations!

One thing I've been pondering lately: Can actions in your dreams result in judgements of other people, or must those judgements already exist internally and in reality before they can be projected in the dreamworld. If the first option is the case...imagine if misjudged someone...because of how they were in your dream. Who knows.

      Graduation and Speed?

      Part 1-
So it starts in my house – where the living room is more the size of a small ballroom. I see a bunch of guys in their prestigious military uniforms, and wonder what they’re doing. Not too long later the girls are all dressed up, and well I’m just wearing sweatpants and a t-shirt, but didn’t mind because I had just woken up. Nikki from across the street was over and she had just lit a cigarette a few steps inside my room.
I yelled at her “Nikki, you can’t smoke in here!” She took offense and gave me a dirty look – I then justified myself by pointing out that I had dry-cleaning in my closet – motherfuckin’ drycleaning – and that’s why it got dry cleaned in the first place – so it didn’t smell like smoke (which was a lie, but she didn’t know). I pushed her out of my room and towards the door so she could enjoy her fag outside.
Shortly after, I spotted my grandfather. He was sitting in the middle of a couch on the other side of the room, facing the wall. We were very excited to see each other but he seemed angry and upset about the fact that I’m in England. I remember being out and realizing afterward that it was graduation, and I was the only one who didn’t know about it. How could I have been so daft to the point that I didn’t realize that I was at my own shit graduation? Or maybe it wasn’t my graduation..but who knows.
I don’t remember what happened between that and the next part of the dream….

      Part 2-
I’m in Thunder Bay on a city bus, but the bus is more like a bus I sat on in Gdansk, Poland - old and higher off the ground. We were bout ½ way back on the left side of the bus, the driver however was still on the right side of the bus, as they are in England. The bus seems to be more square shaped from the inside; it is unrealistically wide. The front ½ of the bus was just clear floor space with no seating, and nothing seperating the driver. He sat on what appeared to be an office chair on wheels - not attached to the floor. There were less than 15 other people on the bus. My aunt Carrie and her mother were on the bus. Also were her two young children…..both about two years old – they might have been twins. She also had two packages on the floor. In them contained two and three fetuses – which looked like tiny fetal pigs the size of large eggrolls. They were all alive as well and breathing, but not moving, eyes closed.
It was very weird. The two youngsters were standing near the door of the bus – there was only one, and it was on the front side of the bus to the left of the driver – a very unconventional place for a bus door to be. The bus stopped at the corner of Baltimoral near the Paleo-DNA laboratory and a man came to the front of the bus. The doors opened, and he pulled out an old-school pistol and flashed it. He wasn’t more than 30 years old and no younger than 24. He had brown hair, and a denim jacket accompanying his dirty blue jeans. His face was covered in stubble but facial hair… he had none. I thought I was going to die for sure . Who shows that they have a gun before getting on a public bus? This wasn’t SPEED, so naturally I assumed that this guy had to be cracked out or something. He said “my favourite part about the bus is that I can show young children my gun and no one can do anything about it. “

As he stroked the side of the brown, round-barreled pistol, he stated with a grin on his face “I’ve got a pretty good shot too”. With that, he stepped back off the bus, still facing forward, and disappeared around the side. The bus was still, and the brief moment of silence and disarray was broken as bullets pierced the walls of the bus, entering at no more than a few inches above the floor of the bus.
As the man shot from left to right, I dove after the first two bullets – recognizing his pattern of shooting. After six bullets were shot, the man reloaded and began shooting again. I dove once again in the other direction, as a bullet went just over my head. I ducked in the corner and I was quite afraid as to what was next to come. There was no more, and the man had seemed to have left. There were no windows on the bus other than the front one – and so there was a degree of uncertainty as whether or not the gun-shots ceased for good. I ran over to the bus driver, as he appeared to have been hit in the stomach, and he said “I’ve been stabbed”, but I think he meant to say “shot”. He said he would be okay, but couldn’t move from his position on the floor, around the pedals. My aunt Carrie was crying, and terrified. She hugged her mother, as they were both happy to have come out of the attack unharmed. The twins were lucky to have dodged both rounds, but when I opened the packets of fetuses on the ground, two of the five had been shot, and were dead. I thought about taking them out of the box away from the others, and considered putting them into the garbage, but then I realized that even though they appeared to be bleeding eggrolls to me, they were perhaps and most likely more significant to my aunt. I left them, and after ensuring everyone was okay, I exited the bus in a panic. It was the middle of the day, yet…the road seemed to be deserted. I ran down the road, and then realized that I had better use my cell phone to call the police rather than attempt to run to the station that wasn’t too far away around the corner, and abandon those still terrified and gelled to their seats. I ran back to the bus as fast as I could, and I dialed 999 to call the police. The phone connected, and shortly disconnected after about 15 seconds, with a text-reply saying “thank you for calling 999, we will have someone look into your situation shortly”. What kind of emergency line was this anyway?!
The distance between the corner and the police station was much larger than I remembered, probably about 400 metres. I sat in the driver seat, and told the bus driver that I would steer if he could press the accelerator, as he was stuck in his position. He agreed, and we started off toward the police station. He was driving very quickly, and I said to him “I don’t think we need to drive really fast, it’s probably better that we make it there in one piece”. The speed of the bus did not decrease or increase, but remained constant, and I said “He cut the breaks didn’t he”. “Yup” replied the driver from below. The bus was easily traveling at 70-80km/hour. Knowing that our worst nightmare short of SPEED had manifested, I quickly tried to think of the best route to take given that we could not stop or reduce our speed. The roads ahead were full of vehicles, not like the area we had just come from, and given that the bus had a full tank of gas, it was not an option to attempt and empty the tank. We couldn’t go through the city, or there would be a disaster for sure, so I attempted to take the right ramp onto the expressway. The bus barely made it but slid to the left and just missed hitting a transport head on. The lateral sliding slowed the bus significantly and it hit another truck to the left and came to a halt. We were all sooo happy that we had made it. My grandfather was on the highway and I ran to him and gave him a big hug. I remember his skin being the softest thing that I had ever felt as I gave him a big long hug. We were both in tears, and then I woke up.

      My FightClub - College-Terrorist Dream!

This morning, I had the weirdest dream...well actually I had a few...but one i remember vididly...

Here's a Map -to which you may refer throughout reading to help orientate things:

I'm not sure why, but my family minus Leanne and Plus Scotty and Christina and maybe even Geoff Reguly decided to go to Toronto and stay in an apartment on the North East side of the city. The city layout...consister of a hotel area near the water, a food court type area that was centralized, and long walk through space-like tunnels to an empty subway terminal, and an amusement park or maybe just a rollercoaster inside a big hanger.

Scotty myself and one other male..possibly Geoff...decided to go for a walk as soon as we got to our apartment. We walked..as i remeber from the hotel zone towards the foodcourt area and at the front before you got into the foodcourt area was this slummy strip of old businesses and warehouses....there was however a newer perhaps...cement business to the south. We walked across the vacant lot of this old business when we encountered 2 people fighting in this dark (rather large) back alleyway between 2 of the tall old warehouses. It wasn't long until one of them came after me and I was seperated from Geoff and Scotty (who remained standing to the left of the entrance of the alleyway. I was afraid, and as time went by, more and more people showed up in this alleyway. One of the first ones there however was this guy who was about 6'0, 180 lbs with blonde hair, and he had to be in his mid 20s. He sometimes fought with the same people I did and yet just when I thought he was my partner, he would begin fighting me. I was very confused. While some of them were fighting, and I was alone,...i tried to get away and i noticed this high fence at the back of the alley. It had spikes on top..much like knives pointed straight up as a deterent to climb it. I climbed all the way to the top, which was VERY high and about 4 or 5 storeys high. I then thought to myself: I can climb over..and if someone sees me..they'll just run around the building and meet me on the other side, or i could climb on top of this very small roof...where I would eventually have to get down from...and a fall would be fatal...so I climbed bck down as quickly as I could.
Then some asians showed up in an escalade-type vehicle on the other side of the alley. One of them climbed the fence while 4 others watched him come straight for me. EVeryone seemed to know some sort of martial art and I only knew wrestling from highschool haha. So i tossed him; the wrestling seemed to be rather effective. I probably hip-tossed about 10-15 people. I also got punched and kicked a lot, but not to the point where I felt like quitting. No one ever got to that point it seemed. SOmeone else would always jump in and save them.
I asked the blonde haired guy: What goes on here? Do people just come here to fight for fun?
He replied: We fight and it's a form of training (i guess learning from experience type of deal), and then we eventually finish each other off.
When he said this...i almost froze completely. I asked why they'd do that..and why wouldn't they just keep getting better and he calmly explained "that's how it works".
I told him i needed to go get a drink, because i was sick, and my throat was flemmy sounding when I spoke. I asked him if he wanted to come (i dont remember where we got the drink from...there might have been a water fountain lol).
Then this woman - perhaps asian with lots of makeup sitting on the south side of the alley (the alley runs west to east)so she's sitting on the side. And she yelled out 2 names. Ian and Jake. Which happened to be my partner and I. We were both the MVPs of the day/night (I think it was early in the morning now that I think about it). We were both given a toiletpaper roll-sized spool of ribbon (the soft-party kind - it had a pattern on it). and in all there were about 8 of us who were to pose for a picture as a group. One of the guys, who had obviously won a spool before, proclaimed that he was going to save his, as he didn't need themoney right now. Where another older fellow...probably in his 30s had a large tupperware container that had thousands of dollars in it. I thought it to be odd that he carried this around, but it was clear he had won many times. Jake and I went to this small window near the entrance of the alleyway to cash in his ribbon. He took about $100 dollars away with him from the counter, and when I cashed mine....I received about $800 and some! Why the pay difference? I'm not sure, but for some reason we were paid in american currency. I had about 5x $100 bills, 1x this weird old $100 bill, a $30 bill, some $20s, etc. I later found out that this was also Jake's first day at the club, and I was surprised. We were also partners as it turned out - he explained to me that you had to come to the club with a partner.
When I left, I realized that Geoff and Scotty were gone, well obviously as it seemed like I had been at that club for about no less than 4 hours. I started walking around, and I ran into Geoff. I tried to explain to him about the club and as we were walking, people would say hi to me. It was always people from the club, and it seemed like I knew many people. Especially this very attractive girl who didn't look like the fighting type at all, and infact she was quite good at it. Isn't that always the case? Hot girl with a blackbelt? (it's not uncommon in THunder Bay anyway..). We walked down a set of stairs in a newer looking building (perhaps a large bus terminal) on the South side of the city. As we headed down the stairs...we were passed by many young people wearing ski masks, black fatigue, and black toques etc. Many of them held large weapons and dufflebags. It was the middle of summer, so we knew something was going down. I was scared when we passed the first one on the stairs, nevermind when we got down to the main floor and there were about 10 or more of them. at all the entrances, some looking out the window, looking busy, etc.
Surprisingly, none of them did anything to people just walking in...but it seemed like something was going to go down any moment. There were about 20 urinals just clustered in the north side of the building, and lots of backpackers seemed to be standing at them. It was at this point I lost Geoff..i don't know where we went, but i went and stood at an empty urinal, and I spoke to the guy standing beside me (as no one was actually peeing, just pretending. He left, buckled his bag around the post, and left his mitts and hat on top of the urinal. I found this to be very strange, as he ran off... I turned to my other side, and asked "what's going on". This fellow was kind enough to explain to me that the students were fighting out against the college teacher's strike, and were going to get their settlement so they could go back to school. The purpose of it all was to kill either teachers, or people at the bartering table. I never really found out who the targets were. But it seemed they all stood outside on the eastern side of the building, and a few of them ran into a large apartment building. Moments later, hundreds of people fled the building. One came out who seemed to be aware he was a target and pulled out this huge gun from a garbage can and began firing on the students. He was killed very quickly, along with a few others who were aware they were targets. The others simply ran down the street in fear. Soon they moved to a building across the street to the south, and still across from the bus station (which was on a corner). Many of the students had those rocket launchers used by arabs that you often see overseas. and they were firing them into the building, and having a great time doing it. I decided to get out of there. After they were finsihed. They hid everything, threw on janitor-like suits and everyone began cleaning the streets. It was a very smooth operation, as they all appeared to be city workers. Even I had a long steel pole in my hand used to clean the streets. I asked one of them where they wanted me to put it, as I wasn't sure what I was even doing with it. He told me to go inside and put it in a pile with all the others. Inside there were about 8 piles...some of rockets, others of guns, and I did manage to find the pile of street-cleaning sticks.
I then decided it was time I get home - i realized i was lost and didn't remember how to get back. I walked past the food court on the south side street, and westward through some clean, new, white tunnels that had automatically sliding doors. Some girls exited and past me, but as i entered, i realized these tunnels were completely empty and maybe a perfect place to get mugged. I forgot to mention i had shoved the $800+ down the front of my pants, and constantly readjusted it, in fear it would fall out of my underwear/band on my pants. This sometimes drew attention - at least i thought it did- and it made me paranoid about being mugged. I finally got to the end of the white tunnel, and there was what appeared to be...a subway line...but it was more like a subway yard, and there was no train in site...just an old busted one, and some tracks.. so i turned around and left just as quickly as I had came. As i walked by the food court...I felt as I had been drugged. I don't know where this would of happened..but I was very drowsy, and stumbling, and some housewives in their 40s were poking jokes at me like "easy hunnie, you need to sit down" and comments similar to those. I fell down about 3 times and my body felt numb all over, like I didn't have control of it. I felt okay though because I was in a public place, and it was unlikely that anything bad would happen at the side of the foodcourt. I managed to start walking a bit, and i saw 2 security guards and one police officer, and i said to them "I'm lost", 2 of them just walked past me, and the last security guard said "you're lost?"....
He decided he'd help me, and I joked about a tip if he did (I was thinking I could spare $10 of my $800 winnings) because yes....I'm cheap. lol Besides, I didn't think it'd take him an hour anyway. I told him that I was from out of town, that we were staying in a small apartment and that I didn't know where it was, or how to get back to it. I also had no knowledge of any phone numbers. I found a computer station in a building, and I went on Msn. Courtney was on, and her nickname was "Ian! Your parents are looking for you, msg me if you see this" or something along those lines - I don't remember exactly. So i did, and before she could give me the address or tell me much more than "IAN! thank god we found you!"....the computer died. It literally wouldn't even turn back on. So we went to a payphone...and well I didn't remember her number...so I was screwed. The sec. guard asked me if I had a cell phone. And I told him I did...but I didn't bring it because Roaming fees cost too much. (but God...how I wish I had my phone <3). At first he suggested that i was on the North East Area in the hotel zone. But i explained that it was a small apartment on a regular street, and so it could be anywhere.But...I did remember one landmark. As we walked back in the Eastern Direction along the southside, I noticed the newer, green and white coloured cement company, and I remembered that when i exited the fighting area...I could see it to my right..so we hung a left, and headed towards the fighting alley. It was dark by now, and there were a lot of kids out on the streets. About 200 of them lined up where the alley was. God knows what goes on there at night....could be anything. Just past there was this large area...that was under a roof...it was like a hanger..with barely any walls on the one side of it. Inside were tons of tracks, and a large rollercoaster, that looked like it was made out of subway tracks. Tons of kids were sitting there and standing wiating in line I suppose, although it didn't seem like the rollercoaster was working...or you think I would have heard it roaring around the tracks, maybe even some young girls yelling from the thrills. The security guard gave an order to a teen standing around at the tracks...something along the line of "you can't smoke here.." or something. and some other kid sitting antagonized him with a witty remark such as "you're not an authority around here" or some bullshit like that. I just remember the security guard walking up to him, and the kid standing up...and then about 20 other kids standing up. I thought to myself (this security guard is going to get killed here...as there were about 400 kids or so, at least..tons of them anyway, and 1 security guard who thought he was the shit..and at least 20 kids who want to step in....). However, once the sec guard confronted him...it seemed like none of the other kids wanted to step in at all. The security guard just man-handled this cocky kid, and then we left. He suggested trying through the opposite wall of the hanger (it looked like doorways cut into a wooden wall...that lead to who knows where...looked very sketch). I didn't remember going through anywhere sketch, so i knew it wasn't through there, but maybe under the bridge towards the hotel zone. because i remember walkin south east...across that old factory's vacant lot before i hit the fighting alley, so I suggested going in that direction.

This is where the dream gets really screwed up. Partially because I don't remember all the rest of it...but...

I found out that Scotty was very lost and called the police because he was lost, so i just laughed haha. he's such a tourist. I thanked the security guard, gave him $20 for his troubles, and went into this door where Christina was. I was really happy to see her. I asked her...do you know how to get back from here? She said she did...and we went through this small purple doorway...and there was this crazy cat that was scratching her, and she seemed to like it. And she's like "not this way, because the cat used to bite me..not scratch em". I wasn't sure how this made sense..but Christina loved andk new cats..so I left it up to her..besides..i was sick of being lost. We went througha different little doorway...it was like a maze on a video game... and there was a cat who was jumping like crazy..and it seemed like it wanted to bite her..and she said oh! here's the door, she led the way through the door, and we came out across the street from the apartment. I was sooo happy to see it, I released a big breath in relief that I was home - I also believe it was light again by now...so I must have been out all night. Christina however turned around with this really excited and bit her lower lip with a grin on her face. She started running towards me, only she wanted to get past me so she could go back and play with the kitty who liked to bite her. I decided...you're nuts!!! so i grabbed her and brought her back to the apartment. My parents were there and only too glad to see me.

Then Cassie phoned and woke me up, lol! Thanks Cassie!

Earlier this same morning....I had another weird Dream:
I was in London England, on this highway that was 16 lanes in 1 direction, split into 4 sections of 4 lanes. It was HUGE! and people drove FAST on it. They were going like 140km/hour, and I didn't have a car..so I was running to keep up with these people i knew. I was running 140km/hour! so fast that it felt like my feet could hardly keep up, but they did. It was a super cool feeling. at one point on a bend, there was this bump, and all the cars were airborn for a wee bit. I, however, ran over this same bump at a tremendous speed and i went flying. At first I felt fine, like I'd land and keep running, until the road went a lot lower than I had originally anticipated. My upperbody slanted backward and my legs came up, as eventually my legs came over my head and i was doing backflips. I thoguht...maybe 1 flip and i'll land...but no. I ended up doing about 20 of them very quickly in a short period of time before I hit the asphalt. I was wearing a suit so that I didn't have road rash at all, but the fall definately left me in the middle of a lane of traffic...where many vehicles had to dodge out of the way. I layed on the pavement flailing what i could - whether it be to put my legs up in the air ( i was on my stomach) or my hands and move them around so cars would see me easier and not run me over. 1 car stopped infront of me, and it was someone I knew. I got up, but I could hardly move. My legs felt like spaghetti and I was taken to the hospital. In the hospital I was put into a bed and int eh bed next to me was this guy...and the doctor was yelling at this group of about 3 people...2 guys and a girl who said they were from Toronto, and there to look over the patient. The doctor told them to leave as he yelled at them some more. and one of the men proclaimed "we're getting paid for it anyway, so we might as well do an assessment while we're here."
Apparently though, London doctors are better than those in Toronto etc etc so he didn't think they needed them.
I think i thought of this because if anything happens to you in thunder bay..and it's serious...you get sent to Toronto. lol.
This dream was before the other one...perhaps this is what led up to my family deciding to go to Toronto.

A dream that kind of made sense....maybe because I took Perks like 4 hours before haha.

What Do You Think About Before Bed....

When you're anxious or nervous about something, or somebody is on your mind.....what do you think about to calm it down?

When I was younger I used to have a car-mat on my floor...on which to play with toy cars, and I remember one night closing my eyes and picturing a small red race car driving around the circular track, over and over and over, and in the morning...I didn't remember falling asleep.....and ever since...that's what I think about.

I know traditionally people say Sheep, but that's never worked for me.

      What do you guys think?
